Harris 2024

Looks like USA Today has made their choice clear by picking this poll to report on:

Kamala Harris beats Donald Trump new poll shows, performs better than Joe Biden

WASHINGTON — Vice President Kamala Harris could narrowly beat Donald Trump in November, according to a new national poll from a Democratic pollster.

Harris, the sitting vice president, is ahead by 1 point in the poll conducted by the firm Bendixen & Amandi Inc. She would edge out Trump, 42% - 41%. The survey showed 12% undecided and 3% support going to third-party candidates. It had a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points.

Other Democrats whose names have been floated as possible replacements for Biden in the 2024 race would fare worse against Trump. Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer would lose 36%-40%, and California Gov. Gavin Newsom would lose 37%-40%. In both hypothetical matchups, more voters were undecided. In Whitmer's case, 17%, and in Newsom's case, 15%.

President Joe Biden has clung to the Democratic nomination as a handful of lawmakers in his party urged him to drop out after his performance in the first presidential debate sowed doubt about his mental acuity and ability to defeat Trump. Most top Democrats, including party leaders in both chambers of Congress, have continued to publicly back him.

Biden has described himself as the "most qualified person to beat" the ex-president in November. He said Monday in a letter to congressional Democrats that he would not bow out.

"I convinced myself of two things. I'm the most qualified person to beat him, and I know how to get things done," Biden said in an interview last Friday with ABC News' George Stephanopoulos. Biden said in the same interview, "I don't think anybody's more qualified to be president or win this race than me."

Yet, in the B&A Inc. poll, Biden was one point down to Trump, 42% to 43%, with 3% support going to third-party candidates and 10% of voters undecided. Trump performed better in the survey with men and young adults ages 18-29. Biden had an edge with women and voters ages 30-49.

Harris and Biden would both pull in 42% of Hispanic voters to Trump's 41%. But the VP would do better with Black voters than the president. She'd win 64% compared to Biden's 60%. Trump's share of the Black vote would drop from 27% to 22% if Harris were at the top of the ticket.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton would beat Trump by 2 percentage points in the popular vote, as she did in 2016 when she lost the Electoral College to Trump.

The poll of 1,000 registered voters who are likely to cast a ballot in the general election was conducted in English and Spanish, online and by live phone operator, between July 2 and July 6, after the presidential debate.

Fernand Amandi is a Democrat who has previously polled for the Atlantic Council, the Washington Post, the Miami Herald, Univision and others. He produced a Spanish-language ad for Clinton in the 2008 primary. His firm was Obama's Latino pollster in the 2008 general election and in his 2012 reelection bid.

I wouldn't put much stock in these polls showing she can beat Trump. There are a couple out there, but they reek of making news. I suspect the results are emotional answers prompted by how they are asked. I am not concerned with Kamala beating Trump.

Having said...if the Dems do dump Joe, it's looking like Kamala will be their nominee. I don't think the party particularly wants her to be the nominee, but she is next in line and I'm hearing that the black caucus has put their collective foot down that it will be her.

The Democrats have themselves in quite the pickle, and it serves them right.

No, not to the Liberals she's not. If they can get her in, she's someone else they can control. A Black Woman president candidate would get a lot of votes.
There are a couple of things to consider. The first is when she sought the nomination in 2020, she didn't primary well at all. In fact, she couldn't carry her own state. If she were to replace Biden on the ballot, she's still a significant part of this current administration that has botched the economy up. Will people who are looking to vote based on their wallet suddenly decide having a black female president is more important?

This is one poll and it shows 12% undecided. Most likely, that 12% is mostly independent voters. Harris would campaign swearing this is a great economy and the Trump tax cuts benefit the rich more than the middle-class. That would most likely shift most of that 12% to Trump.

Then there is Harris herself who says things all the time that makes no sense at all, like her unburdened word salad. She turned a lot of voters off with that nonsense when she was a candidate in the 2020 primaries.

The never Trumpers will vote for her.

The people behind this current Biden administration are the ones making all the decisions, she would be perfect for them.

She, like Biden, has no political knowledge, and will allow the people behind the scenes to continue marching our country to communism as they have been doing.

She is not smart enough to have her own agenda... perfect for Obama, Valarie Jarred, and Soros to continue doing what they have been doing.

Once the MSM gets behind her... she will be the new messiah... all will love and adore her.... Sheeple.

I don't see any conservative voter opposed to Trump voting for Harris. They would either vote a third-party candidate, write a name in, or stay home. The diehard Democratic voters are never Republican voters.

I disagree with you on Biden not having any political knowledge. Biden's problem today is his mental state.

Let me rephrase that. Her brain works about as well as his does with his dementia.

She will let other people do the heavy lifting, and enjoy meeting with celebrities for 4 or 8 years.

Sadly for them, I understand her staff tries to prep her, but she won't read or study the information. So I don't think she will be as easy to handle as dementia joe, but she is fairly dim and will not stand in the way of any of the agenda they will continue to push. She's there for a good time... heels up and all.

Oh, and I do see people voting for her, just as they did for 0BaMa... first black woman and all... they will want to say they voted for the first black woman president... even if she is a moron.

We all know the Democratic Party has always used the black people for votes by making promises they don't keep and blaming that on the Republicans. This is why the Democrats' leadership chose Harris to be Biden's VP. However, I don't think they will go as far as running Harris for president. That would end up making it more difficult for a more qualified black female to win an election in the future.

Harris is too easy campaign against. That unburdened video cptlo had posted before would make a great campaign ad against her. Videos of her word salad would make great ads against her as well.

And those who oppose will be labeled as racist and sexist.

More from USA Today on how great Harris is:

Kamala Harris is qualified to be president. So why is Joe Biden holding her back?

Why can't Democrats, and the nation, leave behind the past and move toward the future with a better presidential nominee than Joe Biden?

Despite our nation's progress in social equality, the systemic power held by older white men in America continues to obstruct the paths to success for younger Black women.

The most current example? President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.

Members of Congress and other Democratic leaders have called on Biden to step aside as their party's presidential nominee − with some suggesting that Harris should take his place − after a devastating debate performance two weeks ago. But the president isn't backing down.

On Friday, Biden sat down with ABC News' George Stephanopoulos in an attempt to convince Americans that he is mentally and physically fit to serve. He failed. The interview, much like the debate, lacked luster and left us with more questions than answers.

Our nation needs to move on and open doors for stronger, more capable candidates ‒ like Harris, the first Black, South Asian and female vice president of the United States.

During the interview, Stephanopoulos mentioned Biden’s noticeable pattern of decline and asked the president whether he’d agree to an independent cognitive test. Biden said there was no need, pointing out his successes as president.

Stephanopoulos, expressing concern for America’s progress, said: “Elections are about the future, not the past; they are about tomorrow, not yesterday."

Kamala Harris is the future America needs

So why can’t Democrats, and the nation, leave behind the past and move toward the future with a better presidential nominee?

Harris ‒ a former attorney general for California and a former U.S. senator ‒ is the most viable candidate for president on either side of the aisle. She can take on former President Donald Trump, and she can win − which even leading Democrats now say Biden can't do.

But in true and loyal fashion, Harris continues to support Biden. In her post-debate interview with CNN's Anderson Cooper, Harris admitted that the president got off to a slow start in the debate, but she dismissed questions about Democratic talks on replacing him.

In the pursuit of equality and success, Black women like Harris face a unique set of challenges. One of the most significant obstacles is the systemic, often subtle resistance from older white men who hold the reins of power in various sectors and who have often blocked paths to success for younger Black women.

The roots of this issue are deeply embedded in the history of the United States. The legacy of slavery and the civil rights struggle have left enduring scars on our social and economic landscape.

The oped is written by Marla Bautista. The only reason this lady thinks Harris is the most qualified is because she too is black.
