TPMS useless

I would really, really, really love to disable this on the pickup. I don't have the money that it will cost to have it fixed, and I have no clue how much it will cost to have the thing reset every time the tires need to be rotated.
Any ideas? Anyone want to come to my house to disable it?

I keeps saying to check tire pressure, and even after we had it at the dealership it came back on. This is an ongoing issue that started the last time the tires were rotated.

If it is saying check the pressure, and all the tire are at say, 32 PSI, then you probably have a bad sending unit in a tire. Check with Big 10 tires as to what it costs to test and replace a sender.

You might also Google the make and model of the the pickup with "TPMS Reset" or "TPMS Disable" , for a U-Tube demo.

Good luck!!!!

What type of vehicle?
Chevy silverado pick up 1500

I looked it up, and everything I've looked at says it can't be disabled.

Hmmm. Looks like the sensors are battery powered and must be reset each time the tires are rotated. Of course this takes a special tool. However I would expect any good tire place to have the tool it's not too expensive. (<100$) How old is the truck and how many miles? Looks like the battery will run down after a few years as well, faster if driven a lot. Good to know as both my chevys have the sensors.

Also special care must be taken when removing the tire to keep from damaging the sensors.

Discount Tire or Kaufmann Tire can fix it for you if it's a bad sensor. Most GM vehicles have a learning function for position which can be easily reset by pushing two buttons simultaneously on your key fob and then letting air out of the tires one at a time.

Here is a video:

The truck doesn't have a key fob. It actually has manual windows. Kinda your basic work truck.

You can also use the headlight switch. With the ignition 'on', Go from off to Park to off four times,,, the horn should chirp twice telling you that the computer is in 'Learn Sensor' mode. then go around the truck from LF to RF to RR to LR letting air out until the horn chirps. When you are finished with LR the horn should chirp two times letting you know the process is complete. turn the ignition off, then start the truck and the light should be out. Reset your tire pressures to recommended specs.

If all else fails, put a small piece of black electricians tape over the light and forget it!!!!!!

I wish it was just a small light. The message is across the odometer.
I'll get son to try this some time this weekend.
