These are amazing!!
These are very small; only a 4" woofer and roughly 8" by 5", but they produce sound that defies physics! Bass...REAL BASS, from tiny speakers without a sub. Very possibly the best small speakers I've every heard, period! And for $150 a pair!
Now, they are very inefficient, that means it takes a lot or power to drive them. I would use a minimum of 50 watts RMC (real wattage, not the "peak" crappola), but 75 to 100 per channel really wakes them up. To cheat the laws of physics like this and get big bass from a small box, one of the things that must be done is to attenuate the tweeter. For you non-nerds, that means turn the tweeter down so the woofer can pump harder. But there are more tricks at play here than just that, the bass from these little guys is nothing short of amazing! It will rival a small sub.
The rest of the sound is very nice as well, with very balanced highs and mids. They sound absolutely gorgeous! If you like bass but don't want to use a sub, these are the ticket. They make more bass than many much larger bookshelf speakers I've heard.
They are also very pretty speakers, and clearly well constructed. The grills are magnetic, so you can pull them off with no holes showing.
Amazon just got these back in stock, they sold the first batch out in mere days because these things are being so raved about. So if you want a pair, better grab them.
