It’s a software update. The banners are working as they should now. Can’t fix the round avatars. Sorry.

Changing to the Ortem style gives you square avatars again. To change, click on 'Default Style' and then click on 'Ortem Style' in the popup window.
Granted the round avatars will still show for everyone else not using the Ortem style.
@rolltidega, I found this that may allow for changing it back to square within the forum settings.

Is there some way to change the avatars back to square? I'm in appearance, edit template, account_avatar, but there's 85 lines of code in there and I'm a little uneducated at coding. Or is there something to change in template modifications?

I like the round avatars. Unless we have a massive revolt, I am going to leave it as is.
Temp change to Default Style to see it. If you click the style you are using at bottom left of page you can change styles quickly

The Ortem theme probably needs an update (if it is even available). The 6 months of free updates has long since past. I've switched over to the default theme so it's all good.
