And...here we go again

I can't figure out why blame the cops who are doing what they were told when it's clearly the no-knock warrant that was the problem.

Some idiot requested and some idiot judge signed off on a no knock warrant on her apartment because the guy she was dating was alleged to be doing something wrong that she may or may not have known about.

What would you do if the door is blasted down in your house and people come flooding in? I'm grabbing my guns and getting ready to defend myself. In a crowded cheap apartment with thin walls it's a recipe for disaster.

Too many of these end up being even the wrong address and no wanted person is there!

They should be protesting the warrant and the idiot that requested it and the one that signed off on it.

Wait for him to exit and then surround him. Or if you are going to do a armed warrant, pick a place that isn't full of innocent people.

That's exactly what happened in my neighborhood only one street over from my house. They were after a young kid (my son's friend) who "allegedly" made terroristic threats against another boy (they both were talking to the same girl). They knocked the front door in at 2am on a week night and it's just a miracle nobody got shot. The parents were obviously terrified as well as the boy's sister.

What ticked me off is that afterwards the charges were dropped due to lack of evidence but of course the family was stuck with legal fees as well as the cost to repair their front entrance.

Knowing the kid he probably did make some stupid comments but aren't we all guilty of that, especially when we were young and stupid? I normally
completely support LE and the judiciary system but these no-knock warrants are dangerous when they're issued so frivolously in such a PC environment. But like you mentioned, it's really not the officer's at fault as their only following through with the warrant.

From what I've heard on the news, they had a no knock warrant but they did actually knock and identify themselves before breaking the door down.

I have heard the same. I don’t necessarily have an issue with ALL no-knock warrants if there is sufficient evidence to support one and the threat for real violence is substantiated, and is carried out properly. There’s just a lot of room for human error, not to mention PC correctness or at least political pressure.

I support civil liberty as it applies to law abiding citizens. The no-knock is an effective tool to help assure the safety of LEO's and to an element of surprise when executing warrants against really violent bad actors (I mean criminals not Alec Baldwin). I have never had a no knock executed against myself or family mostly because I don't associate with criminals. It is a shame this lady was killed and I feel for her loved ones. This does not mean the LEO's are guilty of a prosecutable crime. They may be guilty of poor police work or poor training but that in itself does not constitute a crime. As for the protestors until they grow up, get jobs and pay taxes they are going to show their ass every chance they get. Eff um.

I'd like to know how hard they knocked and how much time they gave for the guy to wake up. Either no knock and get in there, or knock and wait. Doing it half way is a recipe for disaster. Got him awake enough to recognize his door was just busted down, but wasn't awake enough to hear them yell down the hall. I agree, the cops were doing their job until all the guns went off. I don't think this is their fault *except* I wonder how she got hit 7 times behind a wall. Sounds like someone firing blind down the hall as "cover fire" while the other guy was pulled out.

it's a mess any way.

I find it difficult to have pity for known drug dealers. When you play with the devil sometimes he comes to take you home. While I do feel bad that she lost her life the reality is she was aware of the risks but continued playing the game.....and lost.
