I'm here to spin the moral compass.
On Sunday, October 13th, our church (Fortified Hills Baptist Church) celebrates it's 100th Anniversary. In this day, for a church to survive this long is nothing short of a blessing and miracle from God. To celebrate, Stephen Kendrick, director of Fireproof and Courageous (and former member of FHBC), is going to be our guest speaker. Gov. Deal is going to also be there. It's going to be an exciting celebration! Everyone is welcome to join us!!!

Very cool!

My church celebrated its centennial in the summer of 2012. It was amazing to look back at where we came from. We began in the sod homes of the frontier. We moved into a school. In 1914, we built the current church.

I love to hear about a church reaching milestones like yours.

Congratulations! I really hope you will share pictures of your celebration! I don't think I will be able to share it otherwise.

Happy Birthday to FH! Our church split off Smyrna First Baptist 40 yrs ago and just celebrated its birthday. Still thriving and being a blessing to its community. :)

True story that made me laugh the rest of the shift. I guess it was around 20 years ago and I stopped at a convenience store for coffee. An older black gentleman began making small talk with me at the coffee station. I usually get small talk or questions about traffic laws, etc. in uniform.

He was very nice, just passing the time and proudly told me he was a member of Forty-five Hills Baptist church. I said, "Forty-five Hills?" before I realized what he was talking about. :laugh

That would have been during the days when the church was in Smyrna.

Congratulations! You definitely have reason to celebrate. A century of blessings for the church and to the community!

Thanks! At the rate churches are closing their doors these days, the fact that our church has been around for 100 years is clearly a God thing - there is no way our church could have survived otherwise!!
