Mayor Reed releases statement: ""The genuine tragedy of the Trayvon Martin case is that a mother and father lost their son senselessly. I find it troubling that a 17-year-old cannot walk to a corner store for candy without putting his life in danger. I find it more troubling that a citizen could not see a young African-American youth without immediately concluding that he was up to no good."

"While I disagree with the jury's verdict, we must respect it...".

What about the hundreds that die in his city? Why tell us he disagrees? Add fuel to the fire of those upset? I have no problem if he wanted to issue a statement saying it was sad that TM dies, and that we must respect the jury whether we agree or not, but it should have been left at that, do not incite people. :dunno

Why not release a statement about all of the crime in his own city every day? Why not release a statement about the young black men that are killed each day for a hundred other reasons? I'm so sick of the hypocrisy that is all over this case.

That young black man, based on the evidence presented in the case, is dead not for going to the corner store for candy but for his decision to be a Barney Bad-A$$ in his manner of confronting the neighborhood watchman instead of handling it in a mature manner or simply going about his business.

Is it sad that he is dead? of course it is. Do I feel sorry for his parents for losing their child? Absolutely. Was he a poor sweet innocent child gunned down for no reason? Nope.

Where is the Mayor's statement for the young white guy murdered in Mableton last weekend by 4 black teenage gang bangers?

I guess the Mayor is as uninformed about the facts as all the other low-information voters out there! If he has actually watched just a little bit of this trial, he would have kept his mouth shut! So tired of people who have opinions about stuff they know nothing about!

Or the young man of "dark complexion" who tried to kill a police officer the other day ...

Or the 4 that killed the jewelry store owner in Villa Rica!

He's a politician, so he's pandering. I don't know if he even paid any attention to the evidence or not. I know he is intelligent enough to understand the idea that the jury decided the case based upon that evidence. I also believe that he knows that the vocal anachronisms are aware of that same fact. Even the evidence presented by the prosecution proved Z not guilty. What disgusts me is that they are willing to pander to the lowest common denominator instead of explaining the facts to the "brainwashed masses", all in an effort to cement their place in the political hierarchy. Their entire power structure relies upon the voters believing that they are persecuted and that only a black politician under the flag of progressiveism can save them from Whitey, or in this case, Hispanic Whitey.

What an idiot. Why does he even think people care what he thinks enough so that he should issue his opinion? Yes, I'm very sorry this young man died. And I'm very sorry that hundreds have died senselessly in Atlanta for drug issues. Politicians just needs to shut up! :BH

Exactly!

Thing is, a young black teenager walking down the street didn't get shot.

A young black teenage gang-banger wannabe who struck and tried to beat down a smaller armed man did.

That's the part that is really infuriating.

I was so disgusted reading comments from people who I thought were my FB friends over the weekend. People who did NOT watch the trial, but instead parroted quotations from a biased media. All this time, since I know that skin color matters NOT AT ALL to ME....I thought we were living in an equal world. I found out that, in fact, there are others who are a different color than I am who ARE JUDGING ME for my race, even though I'm not attached to the GZ/TM case at all. I am disgusted.

And then there was the lady interviewed in Atlanta Saturday evening. "I have no faith in the system. We knew there would be no justice for us - the children of slaves in America."

I reckon you buy more votes when you use the power of your office to stir hatred and envy than to spread peace and harmony.

I mean...it worked for Hitler.
