Baby Girl Gifts - Homemade!

So, some good friends of ours recently had a baby girl. I got somethings off their registry, but I wanted to try my hand at some homemade goodies. I made 6 burp cloths and I am just about done with a onesie dress. My bobbin ran out and I decided to go to bed rather than refill it.

So, here are the burp cloths. I will will post the whole basket and the onesie dress put together tomorrow. What do you think so far?

Awww! Thanks! LOL I am very new at this, and the burp cloths are pretty easy. I am glad you say you would buy them - I have thought of making stuff like this to sell on the internet, like etsy or something, when I get better at this. hehehe

Oh how cute! I love the coordinated fabrics, designs & colors. Nicely done Mrs. B :thumbsup

Thanks, y'all!! I love these patterns. I wish the colors would have come out a little better.

I haven't finished the little onesie dress yet. I have been so tired this week that when I broke the bobbin thread trying to "gather" it the other night, I just put it down. LOL I have been so sleepy. I am finishing it tonight for sure, though. I have to give them the gift this weekend.

oooooh hurry Mrs B, I can't wait to see it! Will you be including a tutorial or a link as to where you learned how to do it. I have never heard of them before and will more than likely want to make one. :)

Yes, I will! Here is the link to the tutorial (notice it is Prudent Baby, lol) http://www.prudentbaby.com/2010/03/10-minute-onesie-dress-easiest-dress.html

This is so easy, and I sweat it is the cutest thing ever!

That is adorable!

Here's the little onesie dress I made! All the fabrics were the same colors, just different patterns. I loved the fabrics!!

So, I showed this stuff to my mom, and she has showed some friends, and now I have been asked to make two onesie dresses for $$$ Woohoo! I like the sound of that!

I am taking my first sewing class tonight at Ashby. Y'all cross your fingers that I don't fall asleep since it is from 6-8 :))

The first is a pic of the dress on my sewing bench. LOL I like how my feet look like little legs coming out of the dress. haha

oh that's adorable! What size is it?
It's a 0-3 mos onesie, and I just guessed at the length. I should note that I did not use the measurements that she used since I used a MUCH smaller onesie than she did. I had a wider hem - I folded over 1/2", ironed, and again 1/2"and ironed.... or did I do 1"? hmmmm... I don't recall. I also continued to break the bobbin thread while gathering so I pinned in folds and sewed it that way. Half of it was gathered via bobbin thread, and the other half was pinned into a gather. (Does that make sense?) It worked, and you can't tell.

The skirt comes just below the crotch, so it will cover nicely. I just hope it doesn't fall apart when she washes it. LOL
