My line of work often involves me in health dept scores. Low scores can mean a nasty condition, but not always. The inspectors often ding them on things that are no danger at all.
An example of this is one of the McDonald's I service. This happened a couple of years ago...The store had an air conditioner go down and a water pipe burst in the wall in the back room. The plumber came out and fixed the water line, but had to knock a hole in the wall to get to it and they would need a carpenter to fix the hole.
Well, the health inspector popped in while the A/C was down and there was a hole in the wall, and dinged them with a 50 something, which they had to wear for 30 days. There were a couple of other small things, but nothing that was a health safety issue.
Some of the health inspectors are real dufuses too, and some of them have major attitudes. I've had some run-ins with a few that were idiots. You can't walk into a restaurant in the middle of their lunch rush and expect their portion coolers to be at proper temperature when the personnel are constantly in and out of them. The temperature of the product is what is important, but you can't tell some of them that.
