Beware the Nail Gun!

I guess I was lucky. Yesterday, while working on the Dallas Hwy Garage, I used one of my handy-dandy nail guns to put up wall board. I was using it correctly, but the nail must have hit a screw or piece of metal under the old sheet rock. The nail bent and shot out of the wall, sticking between the knuckle of my left index and middle finger.

I first thought...MAN! this thing has a kick...at least until I saw the little red fountain coming from my hand. I'm actually shocked it didn't break a knuckle, but it's all good and the garage reno went forward without another hitch. :faint

Being in the residential construction industry, I too have found that the tools we use on a daily basis can sometimes turn on you and inflict pain.
Hope ya heal soon.

We hereby submit JR for the "Purple Thumb Award;" given to those wounded in the line of renovations. :laugh

So JR, ever get the feeling there is a lack of sympathy for your predicament??

:whistle :BH

Glad to hear it wasn't anything serious.

And yes, are you up to date on your tetanus booster shots?

Ok, I got one for ya.

A couple of years ago I was replacing the benches on my deck. I was fastening them with deck screws, using a high speed impact driver to run them.

I was holding the driver with my right hand, had my left hand behind the boards holding them in place. One of the screws penetrated the board and the tip caught the nail on my middle finger and went all the way through my finger before I could stop the drill.

If that didn't hurt enough, here I was home alone with my middle finger screwed to the deck. Yep, I had to reverse the drill and back it out. And that hurt waaaay worse than it did going in.

Then the bleeding started. I had to wrap that baby up like crazy and get back to work, but boy did that baby throb!

I promise I wouldn't have laughed too much, if I had seen your hand attached to the deck.
I might even have offered to pry your hand free with a claw hammer.
Then you would have to go to the truck tool box and look for the board stretcher, or maybe the left handed hammer, or the infamous air nails.

I'm sorry, after seeing things like this happen for years in real life on the jobsite, you just know that the other guys on the job are gonna laugh at the unfortunate situation.
Then it will take quite a while before the person who suffered from the accident, will be able to get through a day without being reminded by his coworkers.

That almost qualifies you for the Darwin Award. :laugh
