I'm not even sure why this is news, or why this young woman felt compelled to make it a news issue. However, a Villa Rica girl is complaining over the news that when she placed the birth announcement for her son, the Times-Georgian failed to print her parents names in the announcement. A similar fate to her sister who had a child (also as an unwed mother) five days prior to her. She says it's because she's a single Mom and single moms aren't getting proper recognition and "it's hard".
The paper's statement said that due to "legal liabilities" they didn't print the name of the fathers born to unwed mothers. Personally, I'm not sure why that policy would exclude the girls parents. The paper did point out that these are "complimentary" birth announcements. Even their spokesperson wasn't sure why parents names weren't included. And they stated that re-printing wouldn't help since it would be printed the same way.
Again, why did this require the news media?
