California going dark again

Wildfires have never been uncommon in California. "During a 13-day period in Southern California in 1970, 773 wildfires burned 576,508 acres, destroyed 722 homes and killed 16 people." https://wildfiretoday.com/2019/05/1...ope-changing-the-way-emergencies-are-managed/

Boss is correct. I had one across from where I live last month

Wildfires are California's tornados, or hurricanes.

They predict Santa Ana Winds, warn everyone of fire dangers... the pyromaniacs start setting fires, homeless encampment who use fire to cook and stay warm starts one, or in my case a car does something that sparks a fire. We hope it gets put out prior to the winds spreading it.

Here is the one that started on the main street near where I live on the last day of that Santa Ana.

My mom called at 6PM to ask if the fire was near me...I was working and did not have my phone with me and had no idea there was a fire.

I called her back as I was driving home around 9PM. Around the time I got to my turn off, I told her that I smelled something but there are no street lights on that road, and I saw nothing.

Watched the news once I got home and saw the video of the fire, but could not identify where it was. Only when I left for work the next morning did I see that the hill, opposite where my Condo is, was all burned. Luckily the winds had died down so the fire was contained.

I live by canyons in a less developed area, so I knew fire could be a threat. The area around the condos were just cleaned of brush a month prior to this and we have ground cover that will not burn, now the area across from us where the fire was has nothing else to burn... the area that burned was city property that is always full of grass and brush.

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Crews were able to extinguish a fire in Clairemont Friday afternoon reportedly started by a crash.

According to California Highway Patrol, the blaze started on Boyd Avenue near Genesee Avenue.

San Diego Police say at 5:24, a suspect hit several vehicles on Balboa and Mount Alifan Drive before taking off.

The suspect then lost a tire, creating sparks and starting the blaze. The suspect was later taken into custody.

The fire sparked just as a Red Flag Warning in parts of San Diego County was allowed to expire.
