And this is what has to happen to push back on government weaponizing us citizens against each other.
I will not comply and inspect documents against my fellow citizens... that is my line in the sand.
During covid, the city of San Diego tried to have us fill out a sheet for each guest where the guest had to say they were either an essential worker, had covid, were recovering from covid, were homeless, or were quarounteening after being exposed to covid. It was literally to "lock" people down so they could not travel because they could not stay at a hotel.
I called up our corporate and said I am not comfortable taking people's health information and putting it on a form the city said we had to fill out for each guest with our signature stating we were verifying that was the reason they were staying in a hotel and it was true and verified.
That is not my job as a hotelier, and I was not the only one who raised the question and said it was not the place for us to be as an industry.
It was pushed back on by the hotel association and the hotel corporations that we did not belong in the middle of someones health information, and definitely not documented on paper. We were not medical professionals.
This will not stop until they see we will not rat out our fellow citizens, nor will we impose restrictions... I am not going to ask for someones vax card, medical info or any such document. I just will not.
