Can Trump use the active military to squash rioting?

Not a good idea, as they are not trained to be police. (with a few exceptions, i.e the MPs)

He might have to... but I fear it would end his chance of reelection.

Yes he can and apparently has, thank you Mr. President. If the state and locals can’t control the rooting then it’s time for the federals to be called. For those who cry that’s not how our country works, your country ain’t working now anyway. I just hate that those service men and women may have to face tough decisions here at home.

This is a tough one for me. I don't like the idea of military being used against civilians, and I shudder at the thought of what a Socialist Democrat could do with such a precedent.

At the same time, some of the Democrat mayors and governors have sever cases of testicle deficiency. Somebody needs to have the stones to stop this crap and lock up the people behind it. I want our magnificent intelligence agencies to find out who is organizing this stuff and paying the people, and lock them up for a million years.

Active duty troops were used in Chicago during the Democratic Convention. Natives of Chicago didn't have to carry a loaded weapon and only placed on sentry duty.

I think the last time it was done was LA during the Rodney King riots, but it's a bad idea and one that Congress tends to slap down. Sending federal troops in when a Governor doesn't want them is recipes for disaster. If a state needs more than their own state can muster, then use Title 32.

If the State refuses federal assistance then they should be held liable for personal and property damage allow to happen without an attempt to prevent it.
