California will soon require state employees and all healthcare workers to provide proof of COVID-19 inoculation or get tested at least once a week, Gov. Gavin Newsom announced Monday as he vowed that the the Golden State will have the "strongest vaccine verification system in the US."

"Too many people have chosen to live with this virus," Newsom said during a press briefing where he announced the new vaccination requirement, which is set to take effect next month.

The Democratic governor added, "We're at a point in this epidemic, this pandemic, where individuals' choice not to get vaccinated is now impacting the rest of us in a profound and devastating and deadly way."

There are 246,000 state employees in California who are expected to be affected by the order. Additionally, there are at least 2 million healthcare workers in the public and private sectors in the state who fall under the mandate, the Associated Press reported.

The vaccine or test requirement also applies to those working in "high-risk congregate settings" such as adult and senior residential facilities, homeless shelters, and jails, the governor said.

The new policy for state workers is expected to take effect on August 2, and testing is expected to be phased in over the next few weeks, while the policy for healthcare workers and those in congregate facilities is set to take effect on August 9.

Healthcare facilities have until August 23 to be in full compliance.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio announced on Monday that the entire city workforce — some 340,000 people — will be mandated by mid-September to get vaccinated against the coronavirus or be tested weekly, and the Department of Veterans Affairs also announced that all healthcare workers will need to get vaccinated.

I can't believe anyone feels this is appropriate for our government.

We will be living with corvid type variants the rest of our lives, thanks to the Chinese government and the Wuhan lab. For any government leader to do this is criminal.

Just as the flu comes annually, since unleashing Wuhan on the world, most experts feel we will always have some type of covid going around now.

The IGS Poll released today shows YES at 47% and NO at 50%; the Emerson Poll released this weekend shows YES at 43% and NO at 48% - both within margin of error of the polling samples.

Newsom and his team are now unleashing millions in nasty TV and radio ads starting this week!

I wish I had faith in Kalifornia voters but I just don't....my guess is he'll remain in office and will be the poster child for other liberal officials.
 
Yes, I fear people have forgotten the damage he did. He closed all businesses but big box stores, took away all outdoor activities, even surfing, and kayaking all by yourself! They shut down all playgrounds for kids... his kid's private school continued in person learning, but he closed all Kalifornia public schools.

Even now the ass hole said unvaccinated are like drunk drivers out to kill you... CNN is egging him on to return to mask mandates for everyone. What an absolute.... I have no PG word for him....

The governor’s remarks comparing the legal action of refusing an optional vaccine with the illegal act of driving while intoxicated came the same day that he implemented a new statewide mandate. State workers and health care staff are now required in California to demonstrate proof of vaccination.
