Cutting the cable cord Direct TV Now option

Papi played around with a digital antennae he brought home from work.
Worked great! Terrific signal from all the local channels and we got a total of 46 channels.
So I think we're going to hook that up and stick with Philo, Hulu, and Netflix for now.
Even DirectTV streaming had buffering issues.

Everything I have read stated the same thing about DirecTV Now. Buffering issues which in my opinion is poor app development. You never hear of major buffering issues with Netflix, Hulu, etc. AT&T developers are horrible, in my opinion.

Hmmm, haven't had issues with buffering. We've been using it pretty constantly the last few weeks. Had one show that developed a bit of "stutter", but only for a few minutes.

Which antenna are y'all trying out?

Reviving this thread from 2+ years ago.....

Since I'm moving soon I figured it would be a good time to switch to one of the streaming TV services. I've got AT&T gigabit fiber scheduled to be installed so I should be good from a speed/bandwidth standpoint.

I initially was going to go with YouTube TV but they don't have A&E (gotta be able to watch Live PD!). Hulu Live does have A&E and all the other channels I need but it costs $15 more per month (mainly due to the additional DVR space add-on) than YouTube TV.

So far Hulu Live is working well but I've only been testing it today for a couple hours. So, anyone else have any recent feedback on Hulu live?

Thanks!!

We have Hulu Live on all 5 tv’s and both tablets and phones (we pay the small extra fee for unlimited devices). We have had very few interruption or buffering and we’re both very satisfied with it, The only other service we’ve added is something called Friendly but with a weird spelling, it gives the Queen her Hallmark channels. My only complaint is with the Hulu remotes, they’re very basic but get the job done, and also the process of getting to a channel once you turn on the tv. Just seems like too many clicks to get to the channel, it’s not like just turning on the tv. It’s a small price to pay though and a trade-off we’re willing to make. My rating would be 4 out of 5 stars.

Great feedback...thanks!

My only complaint is with the Hulu remotes,

Question though: Did you mean Roku remotes?

Ahhh, yes I did. I had to look at the nearest remote and it is a Roku remote.

The process to get to actually watching TV does take longer compared to cable service. It is somewhat annoying so far but hopefully it'll become less so over time.

Edit: If anyone has problems using Hulu Live (or possibly any of the streaming services) with apps built into your TV, try it with a Roku (better, IMO) or Fire TV instead. Hulu Live with the app on my Android TV was crap but it works flawlessly so far with a Roku device. And Rokus are just darn cool. :)

Yes, we finally got used to it. We usually just leave the main tv on all the time and just mute the volume if we’re not watching tv at the time.

YouTube TV raised their price to $64.99 today. Cutting the cord is getting more expensive.

Our DirecTV pricing is getting out of hand. Love their service, but we're getting ready to cut it back some.

Anyone with Hulu Live TV experiencing a lot of buffering issues lately? It has gotten really annoying in the last few weeks.

And I'm growing less fond of Hulu Live TV in general. The DVR/recording process is just annoying compared to how it works on regular old Comcast service.

Its been okay. We don't watch as much as we did even a few months ago.

Although they show a series, "Murdoch Mysteries", that we have been trying to catch up. Good acting, interesting plots. Is still running, and has been for quite a few years.

Sort of related, looks like there is a significant outage/slow down affecting a lot of sites. Including Dallas Hwy?
