Democrat Rep. Donald McEachin Dies

It's sad he died of cancer. I feel when a person has cancer and is undergoing treatment, they should not run for political office. This is a reason why I feel that way.
Yep... it seems selfish to run knowing you are in the fight of your life, for your life.

But I feel the same when they run for office, then quit in the middle to run for another more prominent political position.

Well, you have to stop and look at the circumstances. The dems were getting ready for the 'Red Wave', not knowing what to expect. Politics dictates that they need to put forth your best bet to win re-election, rather than spending a lot of money to save a vacant seat. As it is now they can concentrate their efforts to replace a heroic leader, rather than to beat a republican. Martyrdom is a valuable weapon, just like when they replaced John Lewis. It's just politics.

He could have announced before the primaries had begun that he was not running for reelection because of cancer. He could have endorsed a strong candidate to replace him and had the same effect.

They don't have strong candidates. The only strong ones are the Marxists dinosaurs like Pelosi, Schumer, Swalwell, Waters, Feinstein, Hirano....

It's a Democratic district. The Dems didn't need a strong candidate. McEachin wasn't a strong candidate or congressman. He wasn't elected until 2016 and I doubt many outside his district knew who the hell he was. The news story of his death was the first time I ever heard about him. How about you?

I don't really know much about North East politicians unless they are loud and pompous where the Media covers them, or they say stupid things so social media covers them... Schumer and AOC come to mind.

I figure the north east is a lost cause like California. I mean look, they keep electing Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren. We all know how corrupt they are. and yet like Biden... they keep electing him.
