...aside from being from a questionable source the entire subject just doesn't sound reasonable (even for CA):

It's real, but it sounds like it is being overblown. It sounds like the robots are similar to those used in the disarming of bombs that are controlled via remote control by a bomb technician. Sounds like a good idea and could be useful in certain situations. Think back to the school shooting in Texas where all the police did nothing while kids were getting killed. They could have sent in an armed robot without fear of police officers getting killed.

Will they hire gamers to operate them? :donaldduck: I'm sorry, but it's a stupid move.

Do they currently hire gamers to operate bomb detection/disarming robots?

I fail to see the problem. These aren't robots with any reasoning ability. They would be better described as remote controlled guns so as to not freak people out so much.

These may even lower the number of deadly shootings since police officers won't be as fast to shoot when faced with a potentially dangerous situation since they won't be in harm's way.

I wonder if a drone is considered a robot?? How cool would it be to have a sawed off .12 gauge pump mounted to a drone,,, cops wouldn't even have to run and chase the bad guys!! "Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm-CHICKCHUCK-Hmmmmmmmmmmm-BOOM-Hmm-CHICKCHUCK-Hmmmmmm"

Now let’s put it on a larger scale: Imagine standing armies equipped with and using the same to push their agenda.

It’s coming, sooner or later.

How would the robots get through locked doors undetected? How could they be made bulletproof? You still don't get rid of the human element as it would be a human who is operating it.

That's the point. The robots in this case are just simple remote controlled tools that require control from a human. However, that human could be in a safe location far away from any danger.

Again, think back to the Uvalde school shooting. The police waited a long time to enter the room with the shooter. If they had something like this, perhaps they could have ended it sooner.

Let's use Uvalde. How would the robot breach the door?
