Georgia secretary of state orders ballot signature match audit in Cobb County

“Vote privacy is top of mind and we will never release how someone voted. We are only reviewing the signatures on the envelope,” Raffensperger added. “We recently received a report that Cobb County may not have conducted a proper signature match in June and we will look into that claim.”
I bet Fulton and DeKalb counties failed to conducted a proper signature match as well.

If he's not going to do the job right, he needs to be fired kneecapped then fired!

Cobb is the only county that kept the envelopes. Everyone else threw them away to get rid of the evidence clean up the vote counting area for TV.

Counties were not required to keep the envelopes after the signatures were matched, but a few did anyway. Also, when he said "it wasn't possible" he was referring to knowing who a mismatched signature voted for. This makes a mismatched signature a legally moot point. All you would be able to do was say something like 1 out of every 10,000 appear to be mismatched. But there is more. First, those checking the signatures when the ballot comes in were not GBI agents or experts of any kind. Second, there is no need to mismatch a signature when anyone can request an absentee ballot in your name and have it sent to any address in the world. All they have to do is sign both the request and the ballot. Signature matching in Georgia is pretty much a waste of time and resources, but why not.

Maybe what they should do is match the signature on the envelope with your signature on file with the DMV,,, that way you validate the voter at the same time as the signature. You can't verify the photo, but you can verify that the voter has Georgia State id.

That was basically the law before the State entered into a consent decree over a lawsuit filed by the Democratic Party of Ga against the state just last year. Before your signature had to match the one on file with the SOS. Now you can match that or the signature on the application for the ballot. Stupid move by the state to agree to that.
