Good Housing News

I may have mentioned before that my landlord has decided to tear down my current rental this spring (it kind of needs tearing down). Unfortunately, with the oil activity, housing prices around here are skyrocketing. I won't be able to afford rent on what I make. However, I found a small house I could afford.

Anyway, I've pre-qualified and I'm to the point in the loan process that all I need is an appraisal on the house that comes in close to what the owner is asking. The downpayment and all of the rest is lined up. Best of all, the appraiser is actually coming to my little town tomorrow, so he may be able to squeeze in this one house -- it's likely, this town is really out of the way, so appraisers don't like coming down here.

So, fingers crossed that the appraiser falls in love with the house!

Good for you Waski! :DN

Don't feel bad....our first apartment was SO SMALL....we had to step outside to change our mind.

Don't worry, "small house" is a good thing. What I don't like about my current rental is how much of it I don't use: the entire upstairs and the entire basement (except for 3 shelves). Also a dining room that I mostly walk through and use to house my coffee maker. The one I'm hoping to buy will be mostly usable space. I'd like about 3 more feet on the kitchen, but that will easily wait until after the place is paid off.

You'll have to fly us all up for a housewarming party.

But you'd better leave the peanuts out of the hors d'oeuvres.

Just sayin'...

Raising house prices? LOL, haven't seen that in a long, long, long time.

He's in North Dakota...where men are men and jobs are plentiful. ;)

Waski, thanks for the update! I'll pray that he fits you in. I was wondering where in this process you are, but kept forgetting to ask. Keep us updated.

I know. he is in one or 4 or 5 states that unaffected by the foreclosure debacle, where GA is now 3rd or 4th for the most foreclosures.

Sorry - didn't realize you knew where he was. Is what you just wrote not just the most depressing thing? I know why it is, but it's still dang depressing. :sigh:

As a full time Realtor, I see it every day and the affects it has on people....as well as my own wallet. I've never worked so hard to make so little money! And an article I read last week, we are in store for 10 MILLION more foreclosures within the next 6 months. We are still years from seeing a real recovery......IF...... the federal government doesn't come up with more crap programs that will only drag things out longer.
