I just have to complain for a second...

I have been horribly clumsy this week!!! A week ago Thursday I was at my son's ballgame and I slipped on the dang bleachers. It hurt like you know what! I got a huge bruise that is now spreading down my entire leg and has a knot in it.

Then last Sunday I stepped in a 1x1 that came off of our porch and the darn nail went up through my shoe and into the bottom of my foot. That hurt like crazy too!!!

Well, since the bruise was spreading and I hadn't had a tetnus shot since 1995, I figured I would call the doctor. I made an appointment to go in yesterday. He told me that the bruise spreading was just gravity pulling it down and that the knot should go away soon. I told him how clumsy I had been and since it had been a couple years since I had any bloodwork done, he decided to check everything. So the nurse pulls blood from my left arm and then went to give me my tetnus shot. She asked me what hand I was and I told her that I was left handed, but that I didn't care which arm she put it in. So she was going to just put it in my left arm since my sleve was already up, but I guess I had a patch of dry skin, so she decided to switch. So I then had to get a shot im my right arm. Let me tell you, that darn thing hurt worse than the nail in the foot!!! It still freaking hurts!!!

I got my blood work back today and they said that everything was good except that I have low vitamin D. I looked it up online and one of the things I read said that a vitamin D deficiency could cause falls....so that it what I am going with. I'm not really that clumsy! :))

I've never had them ask if I was right or left handed, but I've certainly had some that knew how to take blood and those who didn't. :Stick

They are either perfect and you don't hardly feel it or it feels like they are stabbing you with a bic pen! :Stick...and again :Stick

Isn't that the truth! While hospitalized in 2008 one lady was horrible. I finally yelled at her and told her she was never allowed to take blood again. I was on morphine, but she hurt! The best guy was a young guy that learned it in the vets office.

I am sorry!! I thought you were going to say you were pregnant. LOL

Haha! No pregnancy here!!! I guess they asked me because some people complain that the tetnus shot makes their whole arm hurt. And it does! Yesterday I felt like I had been punched in the arm and today it hurts to even lift it up.

Vitamin D seems to be a big thing w/ docs now. I was told last year mine was low and need to take Vit D tabs and my husband had a physical last month and was told the same. I have heard of it alot in the last year.

My husband had one last week and the nurse told him that he better take Tylenol because it was going to hurt later! LOL...it did. He said the arm was worse then when they would do it in your butt!
Hope it is feeling better!

They told my mom her vitamin D was low as well, sunshine and leafy greens will fix that in a hurry. :)

Leafy greens....YUMMY! Now I'm craving a BIG salad. :D

I tell my kids go outside and get some vitamin D. Wonder why that is the "new" deficiency?

I did read a story/report about this and SPF 30 and above sunscreens. Seems the sun screen blocks everything even the good stuff. Guess that's why I never touch the stuff.

Sorry you had a bad week.

FYI: cortizone shots hurt like hades, but a few hours after you get it. My last one lasted a year, but I need one now. Spring cleaning has about killed me and my shoulder hurts all the time now. Years of softball and typing have ruined my whole right arm. AND I still need to do my kitchen cabinets. UGH

Well, I am outside quite a bit with the kids and working in the yard, but who knows. I will say that I think they screwed up my tetnus shot. My arm still freaking hurts. It hurts pretty bad in the mornings and then by the end of the day it just feels like I overused the muscle...you know, that achy feeling. A nurse friend of mine told me that they gave it to me too high as it wasn't even an inch down from the top of my shoulder. If this pain doesn't go away soon I am going to call them and complain.

They just called a little bit ago to give me some more test results and I asked. She said that it is possble that it still hurts, but if it still hurts by Thurs, I should call them.

Dang. Yeah, those tetanus shots HURT like HADES!!! But this is five days on? Yeah, I'd give 'em an earful. Better yet - make hubs call them. They'll do it right next time. :D
