Is Mary Norwood delusional?

She is if she actually believes a white person would ever be elected mayor of Atlanta. Just sayin'

Not impossible, but highly unlikely that a white person could be elected as Mayor of Atlanta.

While there's nothing inherently wrong with the mayor being black or any other race; I think it unfortunate that Atlanta has pretty much proclaimed itself to be a "black city", which to some degree precludes anyone who isn't black from becoming mayor. That's kinda racist, in my opinion.

Kinda? The people who shout racism the loudest are the worst of the lot. I know nothing about the candidates, but I even heard them admit more than once on the radio in days passed that color would come into play. SO blatant that it is actually accepted as something to be expected and not unseemly at all.

I truly believe racism in this nation would nearly vanish if it wasn't constantly shoved in people's faces on a daily basis. Not only an entire group of people being labeled as racist on a daily basis, but the other side flaunting their racism as if it was a badge of honor.

There was a Lance-Bottoms robocall going out that actually said "keep Atlanta black". She of course disavowed any association with it, but yeah.

Norwood will lose by over 20% of the vote as all of the other black votes are no longer split.

Andy Young was asked if there would ever be a white mayor, and he pointed out that the post civil rights political machine in Atlanta is black. That machine includes activists, politicians, socialites, and business leaders. The airport vendors are largely black as a result of affirmative action in the 80's and they are a group who will protect their turf. He stopped short of saying there is a strong racial preference in Atlanta politics, but acknowledged that there are few blacks in the core group of movers and shakers. It's a stacked deck even without a majority black voter base.
