Marriage

I had a friend post this on FB about marriage. I'm guessing he is talking about gay marriage but I wanted your thoughts on this. "The fact that you can no longer sell your daughter for 3 goats and a cow, means we have already re-defined marriage". Personally, I think this comment is ridiculous but he makes a decent point I guess. Your thoughts?

Back in the day, a woman had to have a dowey, money or goods that she brought into marriage.
Now we got to give them a diamond before we ever get to the marriage.
Times have changed.
Guys, where did we go wrong?

What did vegans sell their daughters for? :dunno

I think we have redefined marriage traditions - in some ways good, and in some ways not. But, I do think that we still hold to the fact that it is between a man and a woman - that is probably the only part of the original intent that is still in tact.
