I like pie and turkey bacon. What say we go get us some ice cream and ditch the hosers in this thread?

Absolutely correct. And I will remind the Gay Mafia of that next time they jump all over someone who believes that homosexuality is sinful.

As long as they say that is their belief, I will not jump on anyone.

Words mean something, as do the lack of words.

Please do not shoot me.
Please do shoot me.

I believe that there is no God.
There is no God.

Major major differences.
That it is one's opinion is implied. I thought you were tired of political correctness?

I realize that this is a sore point for you, and I respect that. But you should respect others beliefs too. My belief is firm and I think it is well supported. Many accomplished Bible scholars have the same belief I do. That you believe otherwise does not make me wrong. So agree to disagree and let it go.

Turkey bacon....that may be a dealbreaker. :(

No, that it is one's opinion is not implied.
That is my only objection.
As my example showed, there is a major difference in the words, there is no God and I believe there is no God.
One is a statement of fact and the other is a personal belief.

I absolutely respect the beliefs of others and I will not argue against someone's beliefs.
I may discuss them, but I will respect their beliefs and their right to those beliefs.

I am not upset with you, I know you and I think I know your heart, so my disagreement has been on the facts, not beliefs.
Yes, there are those scholars who support your beliefs, just as there are those scholars who don't.
But we would never even have gotten this deep had the words, this is what I believe to be true (or similar words) been used.

It is a sore point with me, whether I am discussing this topic or I am discussing whether or not God exists with an atheist.
I am disagree just as strongly with someone that says, there is no God.
As long as someone says, this is what I believe, then I may disagree, I may ask some questions, but I will defend that person's right to those beliefs, against anyone, whether I agree with those beliefs or not. (I am speaking about spiritual matters)

One last thing, you have a daughter and granddaughter.
How would you feel if someone, someone one you liked and respected, said, because of their religious beliefs, that your daughter and granddaughter were no different in God's eyes than a pedophile, for whatever reason their religious beliefs.
It would not make you happy.
And when you said, hey, wait a minute!
They said, don't talk to me, God says that, not me.
I was told by an old Catholic lady (one of my wife's relatives) that I was not going to heaven because I was not Catholic.
In fact, that applies to not only to me, but to all non-Catholics.
She backed it up with whatever she had been taught in Catholic school in the 1940's and 50's.
She didn't say that was her belief, she said, that was the way it was, take it up with God if I didn't like it.
Now that is bad, but not as bad as accusing someone's family member of being the same as a pedophile.
No, my son is not gay, at least if he is, I don't know it and he has been chasing the wrong sex.
But, there are a lot of people who do have gay children and gay brothers and sisters and etc.

I never said a homosexual was no different from a pedophile. Perhaps you overreacted.

I said both acts were sexually immoral according to the Bible.

I would still have that belief if I had a child that was gay. And I would still love them, while I disagreed with what they did.

Much of the old covenant was likely written to ancient Israelites. Either way, Jesus new covenant changed many things. Eating foods like lobster and clams is one of those. For someone who reads as much as you do, I'm surprised you don't know that.

Those of us who make it to Heaven will be made new. No longer baby rapists, etc.
You do understand to most people that is a revolting thought, right?
I am good all my life and I am standing in Heaven next to the baby rapist? :sick :sick :sick
But don't you see? That is exactly the kind of God we all need! Sin is sin, and God can not look on any of it. So while we are here arguing (not you in particular...just human kind, in general) about the rank of one sin vs another, we miss the fact that we ALL in need of this kind of grace, and forgiveness. The kind that we can't earn. The kind that is all encompassing. The kind that covers ALL of our sins.
You do realize that had not been my point in this thread, right? The point is that certain people use the most vile offenses to compare things for shock value.
Stating that anyone will be standing next to a baby rapist really does not do it for me, and I would guess most of the population. Knowing that all can be forgiven is one thing, that statement is another.
It also has not been responded to that when drawing a parallel that we are using things that are not parallel, but things that 99% of people find offensive, and disgusting JUST to make a point and be shocking. I really do not find that to be what we are preached to be like.
That is the problem. While we all can disagree on certain issues, we do not have to go to the name calling or vile to get our point across.
If we are comparing a sin to a sin lets compare ones that are comparable where we can have a discussion that at the very least sounds credible. The minute someone start the comparisons of a loving couple to monsters, just because they believe both to be sins, people tune out and lose focus of points trying to be made because they are focused on the fact of what you just compared.
I hope that all made sense DW.

Quick Update:

Apparently this went well. There were at least 1500 resignations. It is not known how many became atheists and how many moved to other faiths.

http://www.patheos.com/blogs/friendlyatheist/2015/11/15/thousands-quit-mormon-church-in-mass-resignation

Homosexuality isn't just about sex. It's also about love.

I don't think anyone doubts that homosexuals can love each other. But that doesn't make it OK.

I would guess that there are pedophiles who love their child partners, and the children love them back. It's still wrong.

I could come up with other parallels, but I think that one makes my point.

I do not agree with the Mormon church's condemnation of children from same-sex couples. In fact I think that to be contrary to the teachings of Jesus. But I do support them on their belief that homosexuality is wrong.
I must not understand the meaning of parallels.

I have no issues with this sentence what so ever, as far as you go, even though I disagree with it.
I am sure that I have made my point on why that is.

Let's let it go.
I think we have both made our points.

I think through all of this we have missed the big picture.

The panda and beeboy are starting a romance.

What do you get when you cross a 3-boobed panda with a bee?

Not sure I want to know.

I acknowledge that I could have worded things better. My intent was to compare the sin aspect of the two things. I was not trying to put homosexuals on the same level as pedophiles. My apologies for my poor wording. I do that sometimes, especially when I'm posting while slammed at work.

I was only addressing: "I am good all my life and I am standing in Heaven next to the baby rapist?". I admit that I did some speed reading/scanning thru the posts, and did not read every word, so I did not understand that to be a hypothetical thought/statement.

Fair enough.
I understand.

I can promise that I do love to hear about other people's spiritual beliefs, I find them very interesting and often I learn something new.
