Matt Ryan is just awful

Don't get me wrong, his stats look decent, but the Falcons have let their fans down for over 50 years. I've lost interest in most of the NFL games since Colin Kaepernick got the kneeling thing started, so I won't be watching as much football as I used to, but still, Matt Ryan is just awful. I almost enjoy watching the bad teams like the Bears or Panthers kick the snot out of the Falcons.

The Falcons might win 4 games this next season, but I wouldn't bet on it, especially with a new coach and a diversity hire for General Manager.

Your predictions?

Never have been impressed with "Matty Ice" past the point of him being a good pocket passer if he has plenty of time to throw. Scrambling, running, defense reading and making good decisions under pressure have never been his strong suits. One or two more seasons and he will be forced to retire due to lack of interest from any team in acquiring him.

Ryan is a pocket passer. The Falcons don't create or protect pockets. He has never had the offensive line he needs, and never will. It's time to look somewhere else for something that works.

That's the same problem every quarterback who ever played for the Lions had, to include Stafford who is the best QB Detroit ever had.

I always thought Steve B was the same way. The Falcons never put enough money into the line. They sink zillions into the superstars and ignore the line. Your quarterback is not going to do any good if he keeps ending up on his back on the ground.

This reminds me of an episode on Home Improvement where Tool Time was going to shoot on location as Tim and some NFL players were building a home for Habitat for Humanity. Tim gets to the site and all the players are sitting around eating doughnuts. Tim,"Hey you're Lynn Swan of the Pittsburg Steelers," and goes on to identify other players, as well as a former president Jimmy Carter. Then he gets to this guy with a beard sitting on a bundle of 2X4s and asked, "Who the heck are you?" The guy replies, "I'm Eric Hipple quarterback for the Detroit Lions. Tim replies, "Sorry, didn't recognize you because you weren't flat on your back."

Don't know about that, Earl Morral was pretty damn good, and Bobby Layne was even better,,, IMHO of course.

If you look at his stats, you will see they were not impressive at all while he was at Detroit.

I used to think Ryan would be among the greats, but I was clearly wrong. I think old what's his name from The Saints just retired. Maybe we could get him for a discount!

Ryan had what it takes to be a great when he started out with the Falcons. He most likely would have been one of the greats if he had an offensive line that could block for him. The Falcons could bring any great QB who is currently playing to the team and the chances are that one would see the pocket break down before it really got set up and then have to scramble for his life.
