Movies You Love!

I'm more of a western kind of guy. Hang em' High, High Plains Drifter, Fort Apache (one of my favorites), The Horse Soldiers and the original True Grit just to name a few. Of course, I've seen the Dirty Harry series (all five) so many times I know the dialogue from memory. I love the classic western TV series too. I've been waiting for the full episode release of The Big Valley. Blue Thunder is another great movie.
The Chief says, if it doesn't have saloons, stagecoaches and shootouts, I'm not all that interested.

My grandpa was a HUGE western fan. He read and re-read Louis La'Amour (Is that right) all the time. When he passed he left behind sooooo many books and western movies. Lately I have found that I actually like them. I think its 'cause I never realized what a hottie Clint Eastwood was. Haha!

Okay, here are a couple I've thought of...

Somewhere in Time is my all-time favorite. Love the period, the actors, music, etc. It will always be my sentimental favorite.

Legends of the Fall is probably right after that one. I've seen it a gazillion times.

I only recently saw The Notebook (after everybody I know told me I HAD to see it.) It was as great as they all said.

I don't know...maybe I'll think of more....I would rather read a book than watch a movie (but who has time for either?!)

I looooooooooooove The Notebook! My all time favorite is Steel Magnolias. I came up with BabyB's name from that movie. Though it has turned out to be a popular name, lately. LOL

Louis Lamour (close enough for government work). If you don't watch another movie this year (I can't believe I didn't put it on my list) check out Appaloosa. The book is even better, I finished it in two days. The book is a series of four and the story moves from one to the next. Robert Parker, the author, died last year. Maybe JR could pick up where Parker left off. Mister 8 gauge steals the story.

Sounds good. I'll have to check it out. As far as picking up for Parker, I'll be lucky to get my friends and family to by the book. It will be like the Love Offerings we used to get from singing. More "Love" than "Offering" :'( :))

I love westerns, and love Robert Parker. Louis L'Amour was a great writer...I LOVE the descriptions of the west and the desert areas, esp. now that I've been out there and seen them. (SOOOO different from here...I didn't realize what an easterner I am until I spent some time out west. LOVE it, though!) Another good western writer, although he only wrote short stories about the west, is Erle Stanley Gardner (Perry Mason).

I did see the new True Grit, and it was pretty good (and more true to the book from what I hear, although I've never read it, so I can't say personally). LOVE me some John Wayne movies, too. Rio Bravo (with Ricky Nelson, Dean Martin and Angie Dickinson) is my favorite of those. Dean Martin - HUBBA HUBBA!

I absolutely love the west. One of these days, I'm going to start in Montana and work my way down to Arizona, with an extra few days in Las Vegas, for sure.
I haven't seen the "new" True Grit yet. I have read the book and I understand the new movie follows the book closer. Rio Bravo is another great movie. Dean Martin plays a great drunk. I can't imagine why...

You obviously must be actually sleeping. I read every night from about 11-1 and if I did not finish the book I will read again from 4/5am until done. :D

You really should...

I love The Duke & Kim Darby... but young Hailey Steinfeld and
Jeff Bridges are both really good and the story is very different.
