Nearly one-third of churches split from regional Methodist church body amid ongoing schism about sexuality

Sexuality is just a small part of the issues that the conservatives churches have with the liberals. The main issue is they are ignoring the book of discipline and doing whatever they want. They have drag queen preachers ordained, have bishops that reject Christ as the leader of the church, or even as a deity. It's insane. The North GA conference rejected having a special called conference this fall for voting on churches leaving, so we have to wait until June of 23 for the next regular meeting. Our Church Council has voted to have a congregation vote whether to leave or not, but we have to wait for the bishop or a representative to be there for it, so we are still waiting on a date in the spring. We need something like a 60% vote to leave for it to pass. Many conferences are asking large ransoms for churches to exit and keep their building. :(

The entire concept of a central authority that would keep the church from drifting blew up in our face when the foxes got control of the henhouse when we were not looking.

I'm about ready to become a Baptist where as I understand it, the local elders control most everything.

Well, I'm a Baptist, we often haggle amongst ourselves over insignificant things like the color of the carpet or who's the chair of the various committees, but we don't particularly haggle about drag queen stuff. That just ain't right.

Regardless of the denomination; if a church gets outside of God's will, they will eventually fail.
I've personally seen that happen with a small Methodist church I used to attend in Paulding. It was all because of the pastor who wouldn't go by the book of discipline. She wanted to be a dictator in the church. Every family left the church but one. It was soon shut down.

And if it is within his will and doing his work, it will do well. We have many are are too tied to the building or seem to think that we've been United Methodist forever. Hello, the UMC was created in 1968 when the Methodists combined with another Church that had United in their title. Even if you have to walk away from the building, God will provide if you are doing his work.

We Baptists have our problems too. A ton of Baptist churches out there who are stuck in the last century and have no young people in the church. Those churches are dying.

Oh and my favorite...

"If it ain't King James, it ain't the Bible". A lot of older churches out there preaching this ignorance.

To be clear, that's nothing against the KJV, it's a good Bible. . But it wasn't the first translation or the last. There are several very good translations out there.

I have a good friend who is a Baptist minister in Harlem, GA. This is his second church. His first church was in Warrenton and it was a part-time position. Chris posted on his personal FB page how homosexuality and transgenders were sins. A couple of members of the church who are wealthy threatened to leave the church if Chris wasn't fired. Money talks, so Chris was fired.

That turned out to be a good thing because the church he's at now is much larger and he's full-time.

God and I have our own relationship. I don't need a bishop, elder, deacon, pastor, congregation or denomination to help out. I was raised Baptist/Pentecostal went to Sunday school and bible school my whole childhood. After I was married I joined the Church of God and served as a Sunday school teacher, song director and deacon. The bible is not hard to read or understand especially the new testament. I think I will use that as a guide stone. I have a great deal of faith in God. Not so much in man or his organizations.

When I was young, my Sunday school teacher not only advocated that the KJV was the only version approved by God, but that it wasn't valid unless it had a black cover.
