Official 2022 Georgia Primary Thread

MTG wins. A lot of people love her.

Kemp runs away with it

Warnock wins the D nomination

Bert Jones leading but can't call yet

Raffensperger @51%, but not over yet

Interesting in Texas...Ken Paxton easily wins the primary. George P. Bush was running against him, but didn't really get any traction. George probably picked the wrong guy to run against.

I can't find it now, but I remember reading a quote by Perdue a few days ago where he commented on a recent poll that had him down 30% or so. His quote was something like "I may be down, but definitely not by 30%'.

As of now, with 95% votes counted, he's losing by 50%, so I guess he was right. :D

Edit to add:

I read earlier than he would endorse Kemp, whatever it takes to beat Abrams.

I was a little surprised by Raffensperger. No surprise at all about Kemp, Walker or MTG. It leads to an interesting November. Two of these are on the DJT hit list and two have drank the DJT koolaide. MTG will win the 14th not because of DJT but in spite of him. Raffey will probably win SOS due to weak a opponent. The other two are possibly the hardest races we have seen in a while. Walker is a very popular celebrity with zero experience and appears to be not that sharp mentally. This will make him a favorite of the MAGA crowd as that pretty much describes DJT. Warnock will eat him alive in a debate and comes across as a very likable guy. This one is too close to call. Kemp has a stellar record running the state. His policies on COVID, tax reform, business, second amendment, religious freedom, immigration and putting Georgia first is straight out of the conservative play book. If he runs on his record he is a strong candidate plus he is the incumbent. However "Mommy Klump" is a very strong candidate too. She will have the backing of the liberals nationwide who will pour millions into her campaign. Look for lots of well produced ads with possible celebrity endorsements. She is black so she will get 90%+ of the black vote just because of that. I used to have a pretty good grasp on the pulse of this state but since Hussein Obama was elected I have not had the same acumen reading all the damn Yankees that have moved here. This one is too close to call also.

As far as Raffensperger goes, I think many believe he did what he could considering the bad election laws that were in place at the time for absentee ballots. When the law states that the ballots are not to be traceable to a particular voter after something as vague as signature matching the envelope they came in , how the heck is he supposed to find out if the ballot was stuffed or not? It's impossible.

It seems to be that he only had one real choice and that was to certify the election as is or to declare the entire election void and schedule a repeat election six weeks later. Under the same crappy laws. During a Pandemic. Can you imagine what a circus *that* would have been with the Georgia vote basically selecting the new president? Every dirty trick operative from around the country would have descended on us.

Also Hich I think pushed the DJT line a bit too hard. While there are a lot of DJT fan boys, I think a lot of GOP members are like me, I like what he did, but found him to be rather childish in his conflicts. So anyone who tries to push the DJT line too hard is auto suspect.

JMO.

And a reason to close the primaries.

There will always be the problem of like Paulding, where the local races are all in one party that is strong and the other has no candidates, but the if the person supports the other party for national seats, they can't vote for both. Guess they need to run locally as the other party? (hey Pubby!)
