KYIV/WASHINGTON, Jan 14 (Reuters) - The United States said it feared Russia was preparing a pretext to invade Ukraine if diplomacy fails to meet its objectives, after a massive cyberattack splashed Ukrainian government websites with a warning to "be afraid and expect the worst".

Moscow dismissed such warnings, though it has amassed more than 100,000 troops on its neighbour's frontiers and on Friday released pictures of more of its forces on the move.


The cyberattack - which Kyiv's state security service said showed signs of Russian involvement - unfolded hours after security talks wrapped up on Thursday with no breakthrough between Moscow and Western allies.

You all realize that the Nord Stream 2 Pipeline that the Biden Administration allowed, by waiving sanctions back in May 2021, ultimately gives Russia money. Why would you enrich your enemy? Germany can be cut off of power when Russia decides they want to pinch them off.

We are not helping Ukraine, we are emboldening Russia with every policy this administration puts in place.

Germany shut down 3 nuclear reactors last year, and will turn the other three off this year... they will be totally dependent on Russia. All this is in the name of the Green Agenda that Germany has bought into. Putin has no Green Energy goal... but he will use it to control the weaker nations around him so that he can have the advantage in the future when he attacks the counties he wants back for Russia. No one is safe.

All they have is energy. And the Biden Administration waived sanctions back in May 2021, allowing them to push through the Nord Stream 2 Pipeline to Germany, which will ultimately give Russia LOTS and LOTS of money. In addition it will make Germany reliant on Russia.

Then last week they tried again to implement sanctions but Biden gave Putin a multi-billion-dollar pipeline (letting him get his gas to market without Ukraine) and then 44 Dems backed Biden’s surrender to Russia.

Crimea was invaded in 2014 under Obama and now Ukraine is about to invaded again for basically wanting to be a part of NATO (a justifiable reason to many Russians). China may take Taiwan any day now. You're as weak as you're perceived and the US oozes of weakness!

It sure looks like Russia is about to take back Ukraine...the serious question is why should the USA get drawn into a war with Russia over Ukraine? What interest does it serve our country to send our money and our troops to Eastern Europe? Of course our military industrial complex is all for military action, but for those of us with family in the military, I'm wondering what exactly is going on here. Also, when Russia does invade Ukraine, surely China will invade Taiwan... I agree our president looks weak and dimented, but surely someone in our government has the sense to know we shouldn't get dragged into a regional war around the globe. We can't even shut down our own borders...

In retaliation, the US should simply carpet bomb Denmark.

They'll never expect it and we can quickly get this whole 'we need to go to war thing' done and out of our system.

Russia is threatening Ukraine to prevent any other countries from joining NATO. "Attempt to join NATO and we could invade you too." It goes deeper than that. All of Europe is now dependent upon Russia's natural gas. If Russia turns off the pipeline, people in many European countries freeze. Russia wants NATO to dissolve. That's their real goal.
 
Seems that most of the people in the knows thinks a Russian takeover is inevitable. Even getting some rumblings from our allies that Biden hasn't shown nearly enough strength concerning this. He's weak and Putin knows it.
