So my techie son

Rolling down the highway
Decided I needed a new wireless card..............something is blocking the software installation. :whistle So I get to use his free notebook (compliments of Google) while he "fixes" mine. Ummmm it really wasn't broke to start with. Sheesh!!

I don't like this keyboard at all and I have no idea how to turn off the on board mouse. I keep deleting my posts and opening new tabs. Argh.......................................but at least I get to complain. :)

Yep GD, a 10" notebook. The keyboard is rather large, and the spacing doesn't really work for me. My son is a big guy so I'm sure he likes it. It was free, so I guess I shouldn't complain too much. It just takes a lot longer to type my replies. LOL

That's what I use. Just takes a little getting used to, great for someone like me who takes a computer everywhere.

Can you say how he got a free notebook?

And by the on-board mouse, are you talking about a touch-pad style?

He's testing Google Chrome for Google. He signed up for it about 6 months ago and this notebook just appeared from UPS one day. He didn't know what it was til he opened it. There were no markings or anything on the outside of the package, I'm pretty sure it was for security purposes.

Yes the touch pad mouse that comes standard on notebooks and laptops. I prefer a old fashioned mouse. I don't know how to turn it off and my thumbs keep touching it as I'm typing, just a habit of where I put my hands I guess.

I keep highlighting my posts and when I type a new letter it deletes the post. LOL Not sure how I keep opening tabs but I think I had six new tabs opened this morning. LOL

At work on my standard keyboard now, such a difference. :)

Wow, wish I had known about that!

There are downloads to temporarily disable the touchpad.

I use this one:

Here is something similar:
http://code.google.com/p/touchfreeze/

There should be a button to disable it. My last netbook had a button just above it. This one uses Function/F3.

I wish I had known about that! I've been using Google Chrome for over a year. They haven't sent me a netbook. :))

OK he made it a little less sensitive. Yay!! I can type now!! I didn't want to go changing things on him, he gets mad at me. LOL

I usually take the sensitivity down one notch on these things. My big ole hands don't need it to be that sensitive.
