Top Gun: Maverick

My wife and I went to see Gone With the Wind Sunday night at a theater. It's always better on the big screen. At the very beginning there was a printed apology added to the movie in reference to slavery.

Sorry I did not see this thread. I posted my review in the Regal thread. This movie happened to be on last night.
GD you seem like a great guy but if you think that is a good movie we are light years apart in our taste. It border lined unwatchable.
I digress. My review is in the other thread. Of course this is just my opinion and not the final say about anything.
I haven't seen it.

Why? I didn't like the first Top Gun movie.

I thought it pedestrian and bog-standard.

I for one can sleep better knowing the apology is there. Clark Gable and Leslie Howard owned dozens of slaves and the demand for mammy's went through the roof after the initial release.
Seriously I do not know a person who does not think Hattie McDaniels portrayal of Mammy was Oscar worthy. The character came across as the most likable, moral, relatable, big hearted, honest, intelligent character in the whole damn movie. Her role created dozens of opportunities for black actors years after she was gone. She was a damn fine actress and was doing just that, acting.
