Because doing so, he's willing to let a lot more babies be killed.I'm confused. What happened to the push for a candidate who would compromise and reach across the aisle, not just on the issue of abortion but on big issues.
He got three conservative judges on the bench, and Roe v Wade was overturned. Now he says Florida's heartbeat law is ''terrible.'' He doesn't explain why. In other states, the governor signed heartbeat bills, making them the law. Why does he single out DeSantis? Because DeSantis is running against him. If DeSantis weren't running, Trump would be praising DeSantis as a great governor. He was singing DeSantis' praises before it looked like DeSantis may run. Trump would also think the heartbeat law is great if DeSantis weren't running. Some of you are too blinded by your emotions to see what Trump is doing.
Trump istrollinglying about DeSantis, and doing it pretty masterfully. His poll numbers will likely go up even more now, and at the expense of DeSantis',
In spite of statements he made some years ago, Trump was the most pro-life president since Reagain. It was he who laid the ground work for Roe to be overturned, and it was he who restricted federal funding for abortion. Trump willl not increase abortions in any way, he's just moderating the rhetoric to try and get elected.

How is it Trump's fault that Biden reversed is executive orders?
Seems to me you're blaming Trump for what Biden did now. That shows just how nutty some of this has gotten.
He stated that 6 week bans are a terrible thing and a terrible mistake. He suggested he may or may not sign a 15 week ban but he seemed to favor a ban at that level. How would a ban at 15 weeks vs 6 weeks not increase abortions in any way? I'm not following the logic.
Kemp and DeSantis are in states that fairly conservative, in spite of Georgia going blue last time. Much of the country is not pro-life.Well, if Trump was able to work with Congress maybe he could have gotten a law passed instead of just issuing an executive order? Yes, I know both sides are to blame, but it seems many folks want to forget that.
Also, you stated "it was he who restricted federal funding for abortion" and that is simply not true.
Regarding the part about "he's just moderating the rhetoric to try and get elected", neither Kemp or DeSantis moderated in their states and they won handily in 2022 so I'm not buying that. DeSantis, nor any of the other candidates that I know of except maybe Pence, are for a national ban at 6 weeks. DeSantis has said he would leave it to the states as it should be.

Some of us are too blinded by our emotions to see what Trump is doing? That is true, but not the people you are thinking of.
Nikki Haley has also drawn attention to the fact that the abortion issue can be a loser for the GOP. If they don't get elected, the Democrats will, and that will absolutely tend to increase abortions. And I'm really curious how the "Trump wouldn't increase abortions in any way" logic works. Seriously, am I missing something with this?

Frankly, that's a ridiculous statement. Trump did get some things through congress, but he can't get everything. Besides, to remove specific funding from a budget, it could take over a year to get done. And federal budgets usually don't specifically tell a department details about what they can and can't spend their money on. Trump did what he could to restrict abortion on a federal level and I'm thankful for it.
He would have no authority to tell the states what their abortion laws must be. State's Rights.Agreed, but let's say Trump gets his grand compromise into law with a 15 week ban. How would that not increase abortions in states that currently have 6 week bans?
Apparently, Trump did work with congress on it. What he signed was a resolution that restricted funding for abortions. It isn't a ridiculous statement when you factor in all the other things he accomplished via EO instead of lasting legislation. Heck, even the tax cut he was able to get passed has a sunset provision in it. He simply wasn't able to work the system to enact lasting change. Again, yes, I know he doesn't deserve all the blame, but he certainly deserves some of it.
What Trump did via EO was essentially defunding Planned Parenthood. That is a good thing but it is quite a bit different from "it was he who restricted federal funding for abortion" as you mentioned earlier.

Were there other federal funds going to pay for abortions? I'm asking because I don't know the answer.
