Membership of unions in the public sector has been declining significantly over the past 30 years. A lot of that has to do with corruption and union leaders being convicted for RICO violations. A lot of people just don't trust unions anymore. Foreign manufacturers who have built production facilities have been choosing right to work states in the South because most people in those states don't like unions. Recently, the employees at the VW plant in Chattanooga voted down being in a union. Now unions want to do away with secret elections on these matters and opt for employees to fill out a card instead. This gives them the opportunity to intimidate people to fill the card out right then and there and hand it back to count as a "yes" for union representation. The Sound Guy date=1432771493 said:I agree with the comment that this could push businesses into allowing their employees to join the union, just to reduce their wages.
It's about Union Power now, not the workers.
