Watch Who Sneaks Into Your Suitcase

Speaking of weird animal stories, our old blind dog Elwood got stuck in the gears of one of our sofa recliners a couple of weeks ago. We had gone shopping, and when we came home he was barking for help. His rear leg was wedged between the screw drive and the metal housing. We had blocked off access to the rear of the sofa, but he apparently climbed over pillows we had stuffed between the sofa and the wall. The sofa is bolted to the floor, and I couldn't unbolt it without extending the footrest, and didn't want to risk injuring him. So, it was time to call the fire department. Three firefighters arrived in their pumper truck, and worked for an hour to free him.

They managed to disassemble the recliner and the motor and gears to get him out uninjured, except for losing a little bit of fur they had to cut off because it was caught in the mechanism.

He even made the local news:
