Waski, I want to hear all about the open house! What are you planning to serve?
I'm looking for ideas!

I'm going to make some kind of a chocolate cheesecake. I was asked to make one for a local play, "Death by Chocolate", in February, so I need to learn to use the new oven before then. I'll probably make some cookies (ginger snaps and sun-butter). I always serve fruit and or vegetables. It will be a family friendly open house, so all drinks will be non-alcoholic. Probably coffee, some kind of punch or lemonade, and water?

Other than the cheesecake, I don't want to go too crazy. Some time later, I'll be hosting a "wine tasting" for teachers, and I'll have to be more serious about food then.

I don't have a kitchen table or chairs yet, although I know what I plan to buy. They won't be here in time for the open house, but I'm ok with that. I have a certain savings benchmark to reach before I purchase them. I have some camp chairs and, of course, my regular furniture which I've owned for 13 years now. I had to unload the dining room table since it doesn't fit in this house.

Anyway, the open house is next Friday, right after school. Everyone on the forum is invited as well!

Heck, yeah, man...we can fly into Denver and then drive up...that would be a pretty drive. Woo hoo! ;)

Waski's gonna be surprised when I pop in to visit one day. Of course, I'll have to find out the name of his town, since I can never remember where he lives. :D

One more and I'll hush - seriously, if you haven't been to that part of the country (South Dakota, North Dakota - to which I haven't been, but Waski's pics confirm its beauty, Montana, Idaho, Washington, Oregon), you really should go. I suppose I'll add Wyoming to that list, although I don't like it nearly as well as the other states listed. I am a native Southeasterner, and I love our trees and hills. But I was totally surprised at how I fell in love with that part of the country. I'm not kidding when I say I think I could live there.

RE: UM's new toy - musical notes...did you get a new keyboard or piano?

Tonight: Nothing much...maybe a little wine and a few games of The Logo Game with BBG.

Tomorrow: Again, nothing much. We are cooking low country boil and having some family over. I plan on making a pitcher of mojitos and maybe a few more games.

Sunday: Laying around and watching football with BBG.

This will be a nice, non-busy weekend!!!
Yum! How do you do that?
You boil sausage, shrimp, potatoes and corn on the cob in a pot with water and a bunch of Old Bay. This time we are also adding mussels. The key is time when you put things in so you corn and shimp don't overcook, butthe potatoes are done.

The worst part of my weekend is over. I have now removed all of the previous owner's junk. It took about 2 hours less than I planned, so I'm making a head start getting basketball pictures ready for the paper. My knee is screaming from all the up and down stairs, so I'm not sure how the basketball will go this afternoon, but I decided it was best to sit and work on pictures rather than start the vacuuming and such down in the basement. Blech, even more dog hair!
