Who pays for US Mosques?

I'm not sure why this question occurred to me, but it did.

I was researching an area we haven't visited before and ran across a youtube video about Somali refugees in Shelbyville, TN. That's another topic all on its own. (http://www.newenglishreview.org/Jerry_Gordon/Somalis,_Shelbyville_and_Severe_Culture_Shock/) But, the question occurred to me because these few hundred refugees had their own mosque, right in Shelbyville, very soon after their "second migration". Running a mosque isn't free or cheap, so where do the "refugees" get the funds?

I've tried some quick internet searches, but I don't have answers yet. Although there appears to be a good bit of discussion about the topic of funding mosques in the UK and funding the rebuilding of mosques destroyed by US bombs.

My guess, and it's only a guess, is that the mosques are funded by other existing ones (even those from other countries) similar to the way Baptists funds their mission churches (Romania comes to mind). It could be something entirely different but I can see how it would work similarly.

According to the article above (I can't confirm the validity), 80% of the funding comes from Saudi Arabia (and a more extreme interpretation of Islam).

That reminds me of the statement I heard tonight on the news regarding them finding a suicide bomber belt in a Belgian park today. The reporter stated, "they're not certain if it belong to bomber they were looking for." What? Wait a minute, just how common is it to find suicide bomber belts in a park in Belgium? It's that like an everyday find?

When the dude in Rome was arrested sometime after 9/11 for materially supporting Hamas, they mentioned a mosque and I'm thinking huh? Turned out to be a old frame house in a not-great part of town. I was in E. Cobb awhile back and saw a sign for one and looked over...it was a very run-down brick ranch from like 1963.

I was being PC correct so not to offend anyone. Probably more correct to say, "They're also actively trying to gain converts."
