Anybody else making some of their gifts this year?
I don't have a pic right now but I have a candle at home that I can post a pic of tonight. I experimented on an old candle so it was hard to paint on it (the sides if the candle aren't nice & smooth anymore). Still, it came out ok. It'll look very nice done on a new one.LisaC said:deewee said:I've been planning some of the Christmas gifts I'm making this year. I've heard you mention your monogrammed candles before, do you have a picture? That sounds neat.
If I can't make sonething, I try to find a person who can make what I want for me too.ShoeDiva said:I never make my own, but I do go places that sell homemade crafts/soaps/art. I do like to buy and give those.
I'd like to see, if you have a pic to post!Sadie612 said:I make a candy tin of home made candies for people at Chad's work.
I made my mom something in the blacksmith shop ... I had a tad(ok a lot) of help... lol
I've made gifts every year, since I moved out at 21 yrs old. When I could afford it, I'd buy stuff too. Now I'm back to making most Christmas gifts, except for the boys. They have everything, and my hand made gifts just doesn't seem to suit teenage boys. )naturegirl said:Homemade gifts are awesome!! Going to be Christmas lite for us this year, handmade/homecooked stuff is all I can do.

deewee said:I just sat down on the sofa, with the candle in my lap and outlined the monogram with a pencil (using it as a stylus), then painted it. I've been practicing different lettering techniques for a few weeks now. I kind of like this style, so I'll probably use it for all the monogramming I do on Christmas gifts.
Thanks! It's a relatively inexpensive gift, since most candles are on sale during the Christmas season. I'll finish them off with a nice candle base, and wrap in plastic...like a fancy present.LisaC said:deewee said:Monogrammed candle. I freehanded the monogram on this one.
That is very pretty AND a great gift idea!!
Honestly, it only took 5 minutes to do. Very quick project. You should try it!ShoeDiva said:deewee said:I just sat down on the sofa, with the candle in my lap and outlined the monogram with a pencil (using it as a stylus), then painted it. :thumbsup I was not sure what the black was. (ink, paint, marker, etc...) You have more patience than I! I like that lettering myself.
