Superior Court Upholds Cobb County School Board’s Termination of Teacher for Policy Violation

While I'm not defending either the ruling or the teacher's actions I know first hand how crappy the Cobb County School Board can be anytime there's even an hint of a parental complaint. They're quick to cover their butts at the cost of their employees. They have a long history of ruining the financial stability of families, with or without clear evidence or cause. They dump on their employees at the sound of a sneeze.

It wasn't just the fact the teacher told the kids to refer to the main character as "they." It was the book as well.

"My Shadow Is Pink is a beautifully written rhyming story that touches on the subjects of gender identity, self acceptance, equality and diversity. Inspired by the author’s own little boy, the main character likes princesses, fairies and things "not for boys." He soon learns (through the support of his dad) that everyone has a shadow that they sometimes feel they need to hide. This is an important book for a new generation of children (and adults alike) which exemplifies the concepts of unconditional love, respect and positive parenting.

* An important and timely bookl Empowers LBGTQ children and the wider community with its strong and powerful message
* Encourages self love and acceptance
* Teaches children the concept of diversity, equality and inclusion
* Creates opportunity for open discussion and learning
* Highlights current themes of gender identity
* Bright and colorful illustrations by Scott Stuart"

I'm not defending either side and I'm certainly not saying the court or Board got this one wrong.

The article made it sound like the complaint was the teacher telling the kids to refer to the main character as "they." I was just pointing out the book should have been the main issue in the article. It was probably the real issue the parents complained.

I just dislike the CCSB, too much bad blood between the wife, her co-workers, and several other friends and neighbors who once worked there. Too many to just be coincidental, they can’t all be the wrong party.

(And, no, the Queen wasn’t fired…she quit and for good reason)
