The South is booming, beating out the West as the fastest-growing region in the country again last year

Let's see....

The South - better politics / more affordable housing (and most everything else) / a very traditional culture / lots of rain / better college football ( a lot better)

The West - better mexican food / dryer weather with less humidity... and bugs / and most importantly.... closer proximity to Mexican RAM Truk factories.

That being said, if it were just me, I'd bail outta here.... maybe head down to the South Pacific for a spell, then off to some Southern European nation, way out in the boonies.

Until the demand exceeds the supply.
That's true.

Here in Scottsdale / Phoenix, housing costs have skyrocketed. That is, both to purchase and to rent.
We have a lot of folks relocating here from CA. IL, NY, etc.

When you look at the map, we have a ton of open real estate, the issue is, much of it is government and Indian land, and then there is the issue of having enough water to go around.

The first time I went to the Phoenix area was in 1995, when I visited my sister in Peoria. I remember there were lots of orange groves. My sister later moved to Surprise, and I visited there in 2005 and 2006 while I was stationed at Ft. Huachuca. There were lots of orange groves then. They're all gone now and replaced by houses.

I'm amazed how expensive homes are these days. We've been looking for over a year to move up towards Blairsville, Blue Ridge even on over in to Murphy or Andrews. All I can say is wow, tiny homes going for $300K. Cabins for $459,000 and they seem to be selling.
We've expanded our search over towards Summerville, Trion, Chatsworth and even over into Northeast Alabama (Valley Head). The wife has absolutely ruled out Tennessee though.

I'm ready to get out of this shooting gallery called Paulding County. The demographics are changing and it'll be like Riverdale in another 5-10 years.

Similar, we are looking at places in SC and GA mountain area. Prices are crazy, check the Zillow graph of how much they have increased just the last few years.

We are in TN now, and wouldn't mind finding a place in TN near the GA/Sc border - but it is too far from family.

Yeah, my brother owned his home outright in NC, moved to a nice cabin, but not huge, in Ellijay and had almost a 200K mortage. Prices are crazy.

Liberals, Foreigners and Yankees. They move here because of our milk and honey and then want to change everthing about our culture. Tell us how backwards and uneducated we are yet they still flock in here. Bring their urban problems and liberal politics with them. Vote for the same politicans and policy that they are running away from then bitch about what effect it has on their lives. Get off my lawn carpetbaggers. Eff them all.
