I'm sitting here in my home minding my own business when the phone rings. It's some lady with a message for me from Mike Huckabee. They play the message and Huckabee is going on about the poor state of affairs of this country and how this is just like the economy under Carter and in fact this is like the second term Carter never got. I get it, the economy sucks and this administration is selling us down the river.

After Huckabee's short little message, a man comes on the phone and envokes the name Ronald Reagan and how we need to get the country back to the years of Reagan by starting with repealing MOST of Obamacare, especially the death panels. Whoa stop the train right there. Repeal MOST of Obamacare? Why not repeal ALL of Obamacare?

Then the guy goes on how fighting the minority Dems in the House and repealing Obamacare is going to be expensive. He then asked me to donate $100 in the memory of Reagan to help repeal Obamacare and in return I would receive a new biography about Reagan.

WHAT??? What's it going to cost financially to put a piece of legislation on the House floor and put it to a vote? I don't think they need to worry about spending money on advertising to get publica support on repealing Obamacare because the polls show an overwhelming percentage of Americans oppose it.

Is this Huckabee's way of testing the waters for another possible run for the Republican nomination? If it is, it's the WRONG way of going about it.

What really ticks me off about the entire thing is how they're using Reagan. It's time for the GOP to simply define itself as being conservative and fiscally responsible. They need to prove themselves like they did with Contract with America. They need to show us as a majority in the House they are fiscally conservative by elliminating wasteful spending and taking measures to reduce the deficit and debt. It's time for them to take the training wheels off the bike and show us they can do it like big boys and girls and show us how responsible they really are. Until then, I'm not giving them a dime.

I doubt if I ever run for public office. I'd probably get in trouble for telling it the way I see it.

I agree. Sounds like a scam. Wonder if Huckabee's people even know about this. There was a similar tactic a few months back that went around. Could just be a morphed call of that.

I'll start donating again to the republican party when the elected start acting like republicans again.

>:D

I would have had fun with that call... it is sooo fun to act stupid when people like that call... They usually end up hanging up on me =(

I have donated to Habit for Humanity before so I was not surprised to get a call asking for a donation.....but the first words out of this guys mouth was "There's a housing crisis...." and I'm like "no there's not, there is a foreclosure on every corner" ...duh!!
