Amish announcement

Looks like he's going for the Libertarian nomination. I don't know much about him....is he crazy like most Libertarian presidential candidates?

Here's what the Libertarian Party needs to do.

1) Stop picking nut cases for candidates
2) Lighten up on the foreign policy stuff. yes, we've stuck out nose into many places where it didn't belong, but when you're the world's only super power who isn't completely crazy, you will have responsibilities to lead in a global manner.
3) Stop picking nut cases for candidates
4) Recruit some candidates who have the credentials and persona to win over America
5) Stop picking nut cases as candidates
6) Get more grass roots support going. You need candidates who have come up through the system and paid their dues
7) Stop picking candidates who are nut cases.

Did I miss anything?

I don't know, maybe a candidate who doesn't sexually assault women, has a clean background, is a true fiscal conservative, is a Constitunal originalist, and believes that there are three coequal branches of government might be considered a whack job these days.

Definitely a whack job. Obviously he's not playing the game so he can't be invited into the club.

The question is, why is he running when he has a near zero chance of winning?

Why did 19 of the 20 Democrats run this year? Why did the Democrats run anyone against Reagan in '84? He provides an alternative that isn't there. He mocks the lesser of two evils. Actually the first goal of a Libertarian presidential candidate is to get on the debate stage. He assures us he knows where Aleppo is.

I still think the Libertarians are putting the cart before the house. They need to start at grass roots level and build from there so they will have an established candidate with a following BEFORE the election.

I think that what is needed in the grass roots effort is a number of Libertarian Governors, to show the masses that they really can govern. At this point the only thing he can do is pull a Ross Perot and hand the election to the democrats,,, really kind of sad.

And Libertarians who aren't fruit loops.

Where do they get some of these people?

Most of the smart ones run as either pub or democrat because they know their chance of winning is limited when running as anything else. I think it would take some famous person or other well known politician to run as a Libertarian for them to have any chance at all.

Jessie Ventura won the governor of Minnesota as an independent, but all of the stars in that contest were aligned for mass of voters to shun both parties, mostly as a revolt. That's what it would take to have a non Repub/Dem in the White House again.

Jesse won because most of the state are wrestling fans who believe that wrestling is real.

Their entire organization is Grass Roots. Nobody is pouring billions of dollars into their campaigns. The major struggle is that the Libertarian candidate is on the ballot in only 32 states. They have to get millions of signatures to get onto the other ballots.
I'm not a big "L" libertarian and think the party is a fractured mess, but right now it's such a battle to just break the binary that legitimate 3rd party candidates are forced to battle morons like Vermin Supreme just for the spot. Ballot access is the problem, not a lack of qualified candidates.
Do you think Trump could have won as a third wheel? Nobody does, and that is the entire problem. Candidates with a legit chance are forced into parties they don't really believe in.

ETA: I'm curious what the Koch Bros will do. They previously said that they will not be supporting a Presidential candidate this election and instead will concentrate on Republican candidates for the House and Senate. They have previously supported Amish. I can only imagine what a difference their financial support could make.

The Koch brothers money would not get him elected if he's on the ballot in just 32 states.
