Anybody want any strawberry plants? Free!!!!

I planted 6 strawberry plants about 4 years ago. The first year they produced few strawberries. The 2nd year they started going crazy and I got bunchies of strawberries. They mutliplied so I dug up some and put some of them in a different planter. The 3rd year they were awesome and I had to dig up some and replant them in another planter. Last year I had so many strawberries and they have grown over the planters and into the walkways of our garden.

Later today I am going to be digging up some and replanting them around a new wall we have in our yard.

DO YOU WANT SOME FREE STRAWBERRY PLANTS????? If so let me know. I will check back later today on here to see if anyone wants some. You will have to dig them up. I can provide the shovel and I think I have some pots you can use. I'll have to check on that.

I can't promise you will have strawberries this season, but after that you will be making a post like this to get rid of them........unless I am just a wonderful gardener with a green thumb (which isn't true) LOL

Oh and I live in the NE part of Paulding off of Dabbs Bridge Road.

I'd love to get some, just don't know when I can make it over that way. Have to see when the surgery will be scheduled. If it's toward the end of next week I'll probably be able to come get some Tues or Wed.

Did you do anything special to prepare the bed or did you just plant them?? What do you fertilize them with?? I heard composted sawdust was the best thing for them.

O.M.G.! I'd LOVE some! Hubby is doing a bunch of work around here these days and I just know I can find a place for him to plant some free strawberry plants. :))

(If I tell him they are for the kids he can't say no, right?)

Maybe we can ride over together. :)

I would if you still have them available in a month! Seriously. I can't plant them here, but I'll be moving to your neck of the woods soon.

I will still have some to get rid of in May. I don't really know when they should be dug up and re-planted for the best success.

Some are starting to bloom and I have found little strawberries on some of the plants. It looks like it's gonna be a early picking for me. My husband just wants the ones gone that are in the walking area. I have plenty in the raised beds that I can thin out later for you.

Hey Nature Girl, chime in here. If the plants are already starting to bloom and make baby strawberries, are they best left in the ground until after they produce or does it matter.

It depends on how thick they are. If they are blooming, they'll make strawberries but may not be as big if they are too thick. I'm thinking it may be a little late to transplant. :dunno Fall or early spring planting is probably better but free is free. :)

May not get strawberries this year but they'll do great next year.

Just checked a couple of sites, it says to plant in April or May so it looks like you're right on schedule.

Awesome. MrsJR I'll let you know when we get moved and settled. Closing is April 18th so well be moving then.
