Anyone having forum problems?

We've recently installed a modification that runs new members through a spammer database and keeps them from posting until an administrator approves them. So far it's done a fantastic job at keeping the weirdos out of here. You'd be amazed at how many there are; sometimes several a day that try to sign up.

But like anything of that nature, it isn't perfect. It has flagged a few new members and a couple of existing members as spammers, when there are not. Reasons--an IP that was previously used by a spammer, a screen name or e-mail address that is similar to ones in the spammer database, etc.

If you run into problems logging in or posting, don't worry because you're not banned. We haven't banned anyone here except spammers. Please shoot us an e-mail at the addy in the "Contact Us" section above and we'll fix the problem.

Thanks, we're glad you're on The Hwy with us. :hug

I've noticed a couple of my posts went AWOL but it's no big deal.

Tracking by IP addresses is a bad move, they change every 12 hrs for DSL users and at will by those who know how.

Posts shouldn't be disappearing. Always check to make sure they post. If someone posts while you're typing it will ask for a confirmation; if you don't confirm, it doesn't post.

Most spammers post through commercial servers (like Ubiquity Servers) and they use static IP's.

The only problem I keep having may be my internet's issues. It takes forever to load and I often get the "cannot display website" message.

No, that's probably the host we're using (godaddy). We'll hopefully be changing soon.
