AZ Memorial Service

Madea

zip a dee doo dah
What are you thoughts on the President's comments at the AZ Memorial Service? Some of you seem a bit surprised at my "well done" comment on Facebook.

I did not watch the whole thing, so I don't have an opinion.

Truly, I turned the channel at the beginning because of the crowd reaction. I was afraid of what it would be, and I just am not in a mood to sit through it. It turns my stomach to see circumstances such as this become political grandstanding.

Later, I'll have to go back and watch it so I can give an honest assessment.

I was much more disappointed in the crowd than the president. It was, after all, a memorial service. My children even commented about the cheering and applause at a memorial. Much of the crowd reaction was out of place.

Yeah, ditto, 'cept I'm not gonna bother going back to watch it.

Can you say Wellstone Memorial? Geez Louise...what is WRONG with people today???

I have an extreme tendency to yell at the TV every time Obama speaks, so out of respect to the families I watched something else.

Since I don't agree much with the President, I don't see anything he would have to say about this to be anything but political. From the little I saw, he didn't touch on the right/left arguments. However, his basis of opinion on America and what its worth is happens to been on the polar opposite from mine. When he says something that might be agreed upon, I have to go back and realize that his foundation is nowhere near what mine is. He is constantly trying to change this country into something unAmerican and I will always think his words are coming from that idea. I would like to think this "memorial" was something else but watch in the next few days and weeks and you'll see the true agenda coming out. Mark may words that he will back legislation that limits talk radio and push new laws restricting gun rights. All this will be masked under "Your protection".

I hate to see a tragedy like this turned into political fodder of any kind and I think it has been from the get go. Tonight was just more of it.

It should be telling that the only place I could think to put this was the political forum.

However, tonight I viewed his words from my children's eyes. And they were comforted and at that moment that's all that really mattered.

Sometimes it would be nice to be able to view these things with the innocence of a child's mind. If they are comforted then I can see where you would be too. :)

I see it as a spring board. Stay tuned!

What was with all the t-shirts they had placed on the back of the chairs prior to the memorial starting? Funny how so many in the audience put them on before the memorial got underway.

The T-shirts said, "Together We Thrive" Now tell me that was apolitical.

The reports are that it had a very political feel.

My point exactly nj. The T-shirts should not have been given out.

I saw that too. I was wondering where the horns, streamers, and confetti were at.........Obama made a good speech but all that other stuff took away from his part and made it like a pep rally. time will tell.
