There were 20 injured police officers.

I'm not happy about that, either. But, all things considered, the last thing the Baltimore police needed to do to people protesting, rioting, and looting either because of, or under the guise of, the brutality of the BPD, is to have the BPD hurt and or kill more people.

She either got lucky or had already had dialogue with community leaders prior to Monday night...I read about a similar move by a mayor in NYC some time ago and it blew up in his face...the citizens didn't rally together to make peace and the mayor looked incompetent as more things burned and more stores looted.

Seems to me the mayor knew her citizenry better than us. She absolutely made the right call by asking for restraint from the police. Tue night would not have been peaceful had there been conflict between police and rioters on Mon night.

Ummm...there was "conflict" between rioters and police on Monday night.

Buildings were burned, police and citizens were attacked by violent thugs.

I was watching the news and heard you are now a racist if you call rioters who happen to be black "thugs." The accusation is when you use the word "thug" it's the same as using the "n" word. The pastor who officiated Freddie Gray's funeral agrees. He was shown a clip where Obama and Baltimore's mayor called the rioters "thugs" and was asked if they were racists. He replied, that was "black on black crime." The ship is sinking.

I know this, anyone who says that the word thug has something to do with race, is either a complete moron or a racist themselves.
A moron because they can't understand the definition of a word or a racist because they choose to apply racist motives to those who use the word correctly.

These are the same idiots that get upset with the word niggardly.
