Bankruptcies, Business Failures, Layoffs, etc

The Kmart-Sears merger ended up being a disaster for both chains. The newly formed company Sears Holding believed Sears stores could survive in shopping centers like Kmart stores. Sears didn't believe customers would buy merchandise online. By the time they did start selling online, it was too late. You know the old saying, ''You snooze, you lose.'' KMart sunk $11 billion into the purchase of Sears. It wasn't worth the price because they made poor business decisions afterward.

Craftsman tools were sold awhile back to Stanley-Black and Decker. Their powertools are now sold as a less expensive alternative to DeWalt.

I liked K-Mart for a lot of reasons, but yeah, they sat on their butts while the world passed them by.

Kmart was going downhill before the merger because they were stocking their shelves with junk.

My old company was like that. Spent 9.1 Billion dollars to acquire a router company (Bay Networks) to be the "one stop shopping" company and ended up abandoning all of it.

Kmart? In high school, we would buy the Kmart tennis shoes to see who could keep theirs from coming apart where the sole met the canvas. It didn't take long. You could buy a pair for less than $3.

The last time I ate at a Picadilly was in 2002. It was on Cobb Pkwy in south Marietta. I believe the article was saying this was the last restaurant in Jacksonville for the chain, not the entire south.

I use CVS in Villa Rica because of proximity versus traffic. I should correct that statement and say I used to use this location. Their customer service and pharmacy is beyond bad. The demographics of the pharmacy has been changing over the last couple of years and it may be coincidence but the service has declined with the diversity increase. The two may have nothing to do with each other but it is none the less a fact.
