So today we finished emptying out of office. At first glance it seems like a bad thing but it's actually a blessing and long term goal which took 17 years to attain. Considering current economic conditions our business is actually doing well, not as well as 5 or 6 years ago, but we're surviving and actually showing a small but consistent profit. Technology finally advanced enough for us to change from a customized unix-based program to a web-based application at a very inexpensive price. We are now fortunate to be able to efficiently work from home and after a 6 month trial run we made the decision not to renew our office lease which expires at the end of October. Shortly after starting our business in 1995 I clearly remember having this day as a long term goal. Although it's nice to say we attained it, part of me will miss having an office space and a "safe haven." Was very odd looking at the empty office knowing I would probably never need one again.

Mixed feelings. :pray

congrats dude! I know you are enjoying it though! I have often said I would like to work from home sometimes, but I honestly don't think I could stand it cause I would be thinking of everything else I needed to do at home..lol Only way I could make it work is if I had an office in the basement or something where it would be like I was actually going to work..lol Besides, GD would get lonely not seeing me everyday..hahahaha

My goal is to never work in an office environment again. I get SOOOO much more done at home, and yes, I do have a home office.

We're all up and online by 7:30am every morning, just like being in the office, even our new salesman in Tupelo, MS and he's an hour behind us. I try my best to maintain the same work schedule even though I have overslept twice in the last 6 months. Our phone system is awesome, it's works just like an office based system. It's just odd knowing we no longer have an office front even though we never see our customers face to face. I do have to admit the morning traffic is light, I've passed my wife in the hallway a few times but normally she's off to work early since she drives a school bus.

She is a saint. I could never do that.

Good heavens...I could never do the school bus thing, either. Man, I am so happy about your being able to work from home. That is awesome!!!

I've been working exclusively from home for the last year.....and I'm about ready to open an office just to get out of the house. The walls will start closing in after a while, but it is nice to get up, start the coffee and start on emails before having to get dressed.

Congrats! Sounds like it is all coming together. And even though it has been your goal, I can understand your emotions.

I love working from home full time!
I often say the worse traffic I encounter is a jack knifed dog or cat in the hallway.
