For those who may not have been paying attention, Blue Bell Ice Cream has issued a recall for some of its ice cream...none sold to the public till now. (All small units sold in bulk to institutions.) Recall is due to three deaths in I forget how many states of listeriosis, which Mummy the Bacteriologist Nerd says is a not-uncommon gut bacteria. She says symptoms would be usual food poisoning crap, and that generally folks with immune system problems would be seriously affected.
Now, however, they're recalling banana pudding in the pint carton sold to consumers, and I see from this article, there's a whole list of things. I only ever eat vanilla, and I vary between Mayfield and Blue Bell. This is from their Broken Arrow, OK, plant, which they have now shuttered until they can get to the bottom of all this.
