Braves 2021

The Braves looked like the best team in baseball last night and by Ned the chairman's trophy says they are. Impressive win away from home. Fried started a little shaky but apparently got pissed off when he got cleated at first and went to town setting down Astro's batters. Matzek in my opinion should have been considered for MVP he was a star out of the pen the whole post season. Soler hit a freaking moonshot that may still be going. Man I mean he crushed the ball it was way out of the park before the pitcher finished his follow through. I am happy for Freeman and Snitker they have earned the right to be called World Champions. On a side note the boo birds when the commissioner was announced tickled the hell out of me. He looked like he wanted to get out of there as fast as Soler's HR. Go Braves. Go Dawgs.

We went to five stores to buy this ... all were sold out... the Kroger on Nathan Dean said they weren't sure when they'd get a delivery, but about 20 people were standing in line just in case the ajc got delivered...

UPDATE from AJC: We know customers are having a difficult time finding the special collectible edition we published earlier Wednesday to celebrate the Braves’ World Series victory. We are reprinting that edition, and you’ll find it at stores early tomorrow morning, where your morning newspaper is typically sold.
 
I have to admit when it came time for the All-Star game, I thought the Braves would never make the playoffs. I'm glad I was wrong. It will be interesting to see what Freddie Freeman does four days from now when he becomes a free agent.

The GM (Anthro....however you spell his name) has COVID so that may delay contract negotiations. That's why he wasn't at game 6 last night.

I suspect (and hope) Freddie stays with the Braves for a nice salary increase but a little less than he would get from the Yankees, Dodgers, or a couple other teams.
 
I am very happy for the Braves and their long suffering die hard fans. The win is very cool. However the decision to close schools reminds me why our country is so screwed up. Give me the logic behind closing schools that are already "WAY" behind due to COVID and just bad school systems. The percentage of actual school age children enrolled in these districts that will go to the parade giving the benefit of a doubt could not possibly be over 10%. Let them watch a part of it say 30 minutes on TV or in the classroom. It is another reflection of the all about me pleasure/fame over achievement/education society we live in. I wonder why we are near last in education in the industrialized world. JMO.
 
I wonder how Bobby Cox is doing. Given that he hasn't been seen (I don't think) recently makes me think he isn't doing that well. :confused:
