On nextdoor, they are bitching about the Mc Donalds in San Diego County that only offer a kiosk to order, no cash accepted, and no person to assist you.
There are 278 comments Half are progressive dolts who think this is capitalism taking advantage, that the automation and lack of entry level jobs for teens and first time workers would have happened anyway due to greed of capitalism. Here is a post:
...because heaven forbid the CEO share anything with the workers. He could have loosened franchise costs to offset but instead, as Elizabeth noted, he took home $22MM as opposed to his previous $10MM. Without a minimum wage there would be a race to the bottom. Bosses would pay you nothing if they could. It’s like people just don’t understand the history of the labor movement…
Another sane response:
Newsom, in all his wisdom, raised the minimum wage. As usual, he didn't have the gray matter to think through the consequences. Fast food restaurants have always been entry level jobs and a starting point to learn the ways of business and capitalism. It's entry level positions are not meant to support a family of four. Now other position think that they are under paid in comparison.....and so starts the uphill slippery slope of AI replacement and inflation.
And this tit for tat:
Thank the Democrats for raising the minimum wage for fast food workers to $20/hr...so companies are replacing people with machines.
Can we please keep politics off this site?
Can we keep Politician's from sticking Noses into private business?
Welcome to $20/hr. Ya get what you vote for.
